DR Jane, did you ever tell us how the artichokes came out?

I don't think so.  I could have cooked it a bit longer, otherwise it was good.  I used plastic wrap to cover the bowl and had to replace it once as I was concerned it was melting.

This pie is also known as funeral pie, because you can make it quickly with ingredients you are likely to have on hand: raisins, water, brown sugar, vinegar, butter, salt and cinnamon, plus your dough ingredients.

I've saved this recipe to try because I *think* it's much like the raisin pie I remember from House of Pies in 1970s L.A.

DR GEORGE I think DR JOHN G's post was a Scopitone so movie/tv belly button rules did not apply.

I wondered.  It's nice seeing them...especially the men's. ;)

#%*!  I keep forgetting we can't upload pictures.

Anyway, we're at exactly ZERO (0) degrees with wind chill of -20 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale.

The connectivity was a timeout issue that's now been fixed.

Speaking of the Olympics, I thought this was interesting:

Curling stones are specialized 38–44 lb (average 42 lb) granite rocks, exclusively sourced from Ailsa Craig, Scotland, or Trefor, Wales, known for low water absorption to prevent freezing damage. Used in sets of 16 (8 red, 8 yellow handles), they cost over $600 each or ~$9,600 per set. With proper maintenance—refurbishing the running band every 5–10 years—they can last for decades.

We are balmy at 24 degrees, as compared with the East Coast.

I am enjoying watching the Olympics!

Right now on NBC I'm watching the Men's Downhill Skiing from earlier in the day.

Malinin's short program in the Team Competition was not as exciting or as high scoring as one would think it would be.

I wonder if he's doing the same short program as for the men's single competition.
