Okay I am passed Petey The Smart Car so  I am almost 2/3rds done with the shoveling.

BREAK TIME. BIG TIME.

Darn, and not spotted by anyone offering to help you.

Good news, JRand. And how do you feel about, other than cold?

I hope not cold.  It is very important to keep warm when shoveling snow to prevent something bad happening.

Yesterday was sheer hell with snow cleanup, and I just did another round with the snow blower to clean up and widen the driveway a bit more. This really is hell.

Our plow guy had his own horrible time moving the stuff. He's got an older Jeep SUV with plow attached, and it's great, but this storm has laid down a challenge for even the heavier equipment. They move into it several feet, dump it as best they can to the side, then back up a bit and move a few more feet. It's just bad.

You have my sympathy.  It is a reminder of why we left our home in Ashland.

On my first visit to San Antonio, for the job interview, I visited Central Market. I knew I’d like living here when I saw the golden raspberries in the produce section.

DR Chas, the wonderful Hughes market in Beverly Hills was near my father.  Visiting him was when I first discovered it.  It was also where Susan Gordon and I almost crashed our carts into each other.  She was staying with her mother and I was staying with my father :)

Couldn't finish....one more trip.

Out toward the street where the plow pushed the street snow is harder packed heavier....so I still have half of the entrance to do.

The

Clearing the dump from the snow plows is hard.

DR Freddie you were up very late last night.

I'd fallen asleep watching TV and woke up, and remembered that I wanted to check what happened here at HHW with the update.

I hope you went right back to sleep.

In my younger years we mostly shopped at Von's, Safeway, or Ralph's.

When we moved to New Jersey the markets were horrible, except for one little market near us.

My favorite small markets were both in Michigan.  One was down the street from our first home.  When I mentioned that we were new to the neighborhood they suggested I open an account with them.  They said all the neighbor children used the accounts to buy treats when out with their friends.  How could I say no to that. They had a wonderful deli counter in the bac with the best spinach dip every, and the best spinach wraps.

When we moved back to Michigan from a year in Conneticut there was another wonderful small market near that house.

Here we shop at Fred Meyer or Safeway.  Fred Meyer is larger and has more items that I can't get at Safeway.  Safeway is smaller, with items I can't get at FM, plus we like the checkers better at Safeway.

Jane, from yesterday, we're going to the military cemetery to check it out.  Since it would be free, my mom was thinking of having my dad (and her, when the time comes) interred there.  Her friend Inge is also coming because Inge's husband is interred there and she doesn't drive anymore, so this will be the first time in several years (and probably the last time) that she is able to go.  And Shelly's coming because she may have an uncle there. :)

Thank you for explaining.  It is interesting too.  I hope your mother is pleased with the cemetery.

Yes DR JANE I stayed warm.....and I am finished.

I am sad (if that's the right word) that the idiot snow plow guy thought I only had a single driveway and piled a tall mountain blocking half of the street entrance.

I guess I will be driving the skinny car for awhile.  Of course my driveway is just a hop skip and a jump compared to the one DR CHAS SMITH has deal with.

If you can't see the photos, go into your settings and make sure that option is clicked. Because they're being seen by the majority here, including me.

We're fortunate enough to have some really good family-owned groceries still near us, which is where I shop now, along with our great farmer's market on Sunday.
