February 14, 2026:

UNDER ATTACK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am frankly at the end of my proverbial rope with this site not getting fixed. Can’t get on the board, and that’s been going on all night apparently. Have no idea if I’ll even be able to post these here notes, we are under attack by bots, they’ve been trying to block the attack for two HOURS now and yet, here we are, still under attack. What I’d really love is for whoever is doing this to die a slow and very painful death as soon as possible. Like now. They do it because they can – they certainly don’t get anything out of it and that’s the thing I do not and will not ever understand. So, why even bother to write notes? I just came very close to telling them to just shut the whole damn thing down forever. Twenty-five years with never a day missed is certainly a world record and no one’s gonna beat it, not for some time to come. I’m going to give them until early next week, then if we’re still in this boat, I’ll decide whether to pull the plug or not. If I do, there will be other options to look at, I suppose. Clearly, the notes are not going up on time and I’m really not in the mood to stay up all night waiting. So, here is yesterday. I got about six hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, I’d pre-ordered bagels and cream cheese from Western Bagel – the bagels arrived – the cream cheese did not. I had to get a refund for that and then order it again. I don’t know why it’s so hard for the jernt from which I’m ordering to actually read what’s being ordered. And Grubhub did NOT offer me the option of getting a credit – they automatically refunded the credit card but that can take five days to process, which should actually be against the law. And apparently a law WAS passed that delivery services cannot make the refunding difficult, which they frequently do. The customer makes an order so if it’s wrong it is NEVER OUR FAULT. Ah, apparently the new law requires them to refund to the original payment method, they must provide a human contact if the chatbot doesn’t do the right thing – it’s about time. Anyway, the cream cheese arrived and I had two lox and bagel sandwiches – they were good. I dozed off for a bit, had a telephonic call, tried to connect with Muse Margaret but she had to work late and was too tired, so hopefully that will happen today. Then I did an Amazon return and that credit went through instantly the minute they scanned the return barcode. Then I moseyed on over to the theater, we ran the three sequences where cuts were involved and then we did the show for the eighteen people in attendance – well, twenty-one with the house staff and me. They were actually a very good audience, lots of laughs and the cuts really helped. I came right home after the show and had another lox and bagel sandwich for my snack. And here we are unable to do anything concerning the site.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat something (maybe tuna sandwiches), I’ll hopefully talk to Muse Margaret and run the little questions by her – it shouldn’t take more than ten minutes – and then I’ll relax until it’s time to be on my way to the theater. I know it’s another light house so I’ll do the pre-show speech and then go home, unless it’s a really good and vocal crowd.

Tomorrow is a matinee and we have a pretty good size house for that and it’s Valentine’s Day. IF I stay for the show, I’ll probably to have a proper meal afterwards. Then it’s a holiday on Monday, then come Tuesday it’s all book stuff. I’ve got an ask out for a blurb and will put two more out this week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat, hopefully talk to Muse Margaret and put in whatever of the short number of fixes I have questions on that she agrees with, relax, do the pre-show speech, either stay or come home. Today’s topic of discussion: Have we all just about had it with this here site or should we continue having them fix it once and for all? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, not happy that we are once again under attack AND that my hands just decided to cramp like crazy.
