DISCOMBOBULATED FISH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much discombobulated fish due to about three hours of sleep. I waa actually in bed by twelve-twenty but then the hand and foot cramps began. I sort of slept for a couple of hours, if that, then could take it no more and got up. Then back to bed, same issue, then up, then bed, then up, then bed. And that’s how it went, all right, all right until I finally fell asleep at ten and woke up at eleven. So, I was in a state of confusion for most of the day and evening. I managed to get through the pre-show speech, which actually got the biggest laughs it’s gotten so far. Because it was a nice crowd, I stayed through act one – lots of laughs, cut certain things are sloppy and I’m going to have to have a tough love chat with the company about getting back on track. I came right home after intermission and had a pulled pork sandwich from Boneyard Bistro for food – it was excellent, but much smaller than I remember. After that, I answered e-mails and did a few things that needed doing and then dozed off from about four-thirty to seven-fifteen. Then I dozed off again when I plopped down on the bed, this time from seven-fifteen to nine. When I got up, my Amazon Fresh had arrived, so I brought that in the house. That was really about it. As I said, discombobulated fish. Trying to think if there was anything else but I don’t think there was, other than the usual troubles with these endless hacks on the Notes part of the site – I’m promised the guy who’s been dealing with this is back tomorrow – that’s been the problem – he was out sick for over a week. I’ve asked that this be a priority.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven at the latest, at noon I have a short telephonic interview with someone who’s writing a book on Doris Day, then proofer one will get me his fixes and I’ll enter those and run any questions by Muse Margaret, I’ll eat, I’ll call the mail place, I’ll send our actors the three little changes we’re putting in this coming weekend, I must put gas in the motor car, I’ll go get more Claritin-D and maybe a vaccination while I’m there, then at some point I’d really like to watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more of the same and getting as much rest as possible – hopefully, I’ll get proofer two’s stuff and can enter that – and then we do week five of our show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven at the latest, have a telephonic interview, get proofer one’s stuff and start entering it, eat, call the mail place to see what’s what, send the cast the changes, put gas in the motor car, get more Claritin-D and maybe a vaccinations, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: As long as we’re talking about discombobulated fish – when I grew up if you made fish at home or had it at a restaurant, it was pretty standard that the choices were filet of sole, halibut, trout – I mean, when was the last time you saw trout on a menu), shrimp, crab, oysters, and clams, and sometimes scallops, and salmon, although surprisingly, that was not back then what it is today. But at some point in the last twenty to thirty years, the stalwarts went away and we got things I never heard of, like tilapia and orange roughy, Mahi-Mahi, Catfish – well, you know. So, why do you think the stalwarts have almost disappeared from menus and why replaced by things we never even heard of when I was a kid? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that me feeling like discombobulated fish will change to feeling like the much better bobulated fish.
