THE FILET OF FILETS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, last night’s performance went mostly very well – we had half a house, which wasn’t bad for a Friday night of week two. The first half of act one had some slow cue pickups and some low vocal energy but about halfway through the act, things perked up and by the end of the act they were with us all the way. Act two had lots o’ laughs and hefty mitts, and by the end of the show, the audience was cheering. I’ll take that any day of the week over a review of any kind. It was fun to see it again. Prior to that, it was a fairly pleasant yesterday. I only got four hours of sleep, got up at six, and did my futzing and finessing and writing a page or two, I finished a set of liner notes, and then the Pearls called and told me they were on their way, but I was worried they’d get to me late and we’d get to the restaurant late, which I didn’t want to do and didn’t want to chance losing my favorite waitress, Zooey. So, I said I’d meet them there. I drove over but funnily we all got there at the same time. It was their first time at The Capital Grille. First, we ordered our starters – Cindy had their giant shrimp cocktail, Barry had fried calamari, and I had the lump crab cocktail. They loved their starters and I certainly loved mine. Then we all ordered the filet mignon – Barry had fries with his, Cindy had mashed potatoes with hers, and I had creamed spinach with mine. They arrived perfectly cooked. I got mine with Bearnaise sauce on the side. It was just another amazing melt in your mouth filet mignon. They gave Cindy a free dessert. It was a fun lunch, with lots of merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. We were there about two hours. It’s my favorite restaurant at the moment. I then went to the mail place and picked up the small package, then came home. The notes part of the site was hacked again, but they got us back up – and Monday is the day when we move to the new server and this will stop happening. To that end, the discussion board will be down for two hours, most likely starting at four, although I’ve told them they can shut it down whenever they want during the day. I just want these problems to stop. Then I wrote about four new pages and moved on to a new chapter. Wrote a page of that, and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll futz and finesse, write new pages, eat. Write more new pages, shave and shower, mosey on over to the Group Rep to say hi to some folks I know. We have close to sixty coming tonight, I think. If it’s a good audience I’ll stick around, if not, I’ll come home and write more pages.

Tomorrow is our matinee and talkback, so I’ll be there for that and perhaps go out for a nice meal afterwards. Then home for more writing. Then next week is all writing, a new batch of pages for Muse Margaret, and a doctor’s appointment on Friday.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, futz and finesse, write new pages, eat, write more new pages, shave, shower, mosey on over to the theater and then either see the play or come home. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite steaks – what cut do you like, where’s the best you’ve ever had, how do you cook them at home and what cuts do you like for home cooking? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had the filet of filets.
