I'm providing refreshments tomorrow for church, and I need to decide what to make.

Rodzinski, vibes that the skin issues you mentioned in last night's posts are easy to deal with!

TOD:

My first French film?   I think it may have been Truffaut's "La Nuit Americaine" ("Day For Night") mais, qui sait?

I had five years of French...three in high school (conversational only) and two in college, where I struggled with grammatical structure and later, French literature.  But, i passed.

Been thinking about it, and I have no idea what my first French film would have been. In thinking about foreign language films in general, I'm wondering if Bergman's were some of my first.

I'm pretty sure the first French film I saw in a movie theeder was The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, or Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob.

There were a lot of TV commercials for it way back in the early 1970s.

I think I posted that I entered a casual relationship with French via Duolingo some weeks ago. Just the free version for now, and I'm afraid only a few minutes per day, but I'm planning on jumping more seriously into it after the first of the year with (1) the paid version of either that or maybe another like Rosetta Stone, and (2) more time and concentration spent on it.

I think my first subtitled French film was Breathless......in the mid 60's our local channel 4 would show a foreign film each Sunday night at 11 p.m.

My favorite French film from France is Les Uns et Les Autres

A Generation At War will be shown on the Fort Wayne PBS station in February.

They are having a premiere at the local cinema on February 7, I think.

I got word that I am still in final cut which is nice to know.

My first French film was probably when they showed us Un chien andalou in high school. Boston theaters used to show French movies so I saw Cousin Cousine, Peppermint Soda, and others that I can't recall now.

I've never been a huge meatloaf fan. But I saw Meat Loaf in concert and he was excellent, even though he had intonation issues.

I think (I said I think!) the first French film I saw was Diabolique in college foreign film series. The next French film, I think, was Pourquoi Pas, about a menage a trois, that I saw in 1979, one of my first films in New York. Other films I like include:
Amelie
La Ceremonie
Cyrano de Bergerac
Au revoir, les enfants
La Kermesse Heroique
La Femme du Boulanger
Queen Margot
Going Places
The Return of Martin Guerre
