Never heard of it before, but this National Aviator might as well celebrate National Aviation Day. [Certificate No. redacted because the FAA in those days - like Medicare until recent years - used one's SS#.]

Oh, sob. Weight 128. I was around that weight for many years, with a waist size of 28 or 30. Sob.

That's great!  Happy National Aviation Day!

Hmm. Soft ice cream, too? I could manage that. I've got a Stew Leonard's very creamy vanilla that I could let sit out for a bit.

DR JohnG, any word on your mother?

She will be evaluated today for hospice. She has not been responsive for more than a day.

People arrived at seven-fifteen - people I've never seen before who understand little English - I asked where the boss was and some guy said "I'm the boss." He said where's the condenser. I said the roof, but what about the coil. He said he didn't know about a coil. And Grant - no response. He's gonna get an earful when he does - you need to tell someone if it's going to be an entirely different group of people.

Had a bad night of sleep. Well, the sleep was good when it was there, but there were 90 minutes of insomnia. I picked up what I thought would be a tedious book and loved it. It’s called Chasing Lost Time: The Life of C.K. Scott Moncrieff, Soldier, Spy and Translator.

He did the first English translation of In Search of Lost Time, which he called Remembrance of Things Past.

Sad to hear DR CILLA LIZ talking on the clip from DR FREDDIE last night......and the gentleman who said that if Harris/Walz wins it will be a fixed election....no way she would win a fair election.

This is what we're dealing with, folks.....infuriating and it all sits on one fool....

I find it really sad that someone I once considered a pretty smart cookie has turned into such an ass.

Well, the noisy neighbor in 4C issue has been solved: Shane, my previous neighbor, has moved it, and it must have happened several weeks ago. A new neighbor, Jackie, has moved in. She left a note about mail on my door this morning. I found it when I went to do the laundry.

Thanks for the link Freddie.  I had seen the first part of that story and turned it off before the last segment.

TOD:

Dim sum is my favorite Chinese experience, with wonderful dumplings, sticky rice, won tons, etc.

I also love the Szechuan variety of cooking, with wonderfully spicy delectables.

When I lived in Oakland, Chinatown was a weekly must for lunch.  There was also a wonderful Chinese restaurant on Alameda island.   The best part of it is that they had access to genuine ingredients that either arrived via the Port of Oakland or were grown locally by farmers catering to Chinese customers.

I figured she was smart to have passed a bar exam...but when she went gaga over Sarah Palin, I realized the truth about her!  She's still trapped in that twilit zone.

I am a survivor...  of the concert and rehearsals and all the blood and sweat and tears that entails, and the massive flooding that hit the area while I, a very lucky person (thankfully, all involved were), made it safely from my home to the venue and back. Many others in the state weren't so lucky. This was history-making rain, with a few state highways and other roads gone in a few places.

I am very glad you are home and safe.

I did three loads of laundry yesterday, and probably need to do three more today.

That may seem like a lot, but two if those loads are one quilted comforter each.
