TOD

I dislike all of the songs added to Mary Poppins that were not by the Sherman Brothers.

If a song is cut from a movie musical, show me that as an outtake. Don't shoehorn it back in with different coloring, sound, etc.

Francis Coppola did improve Cotton Club in the Encore version because a lot of what he restored was Gregory Hines's dancing. It all looked of a piece. It's still not a great picture, but it's a better one.

I don't dislike old shoes that are entirely rewritten, if they work. I don't know the original Girl Crazy (the movie is not faithful to its source), but I loved Crazy for You. I loved My One and Only and Cole Porter's The New Yorkers too.

I slept exceedingly well.

Dreamed a bit, including one rather farcical dream:  I was attending a conference I wasn't interested in, and when a break happened, I decided to sneak out.  I thought I was going into the parking lot, but had mistaken my route out of the building.  Rather than re-enter and risk being spotted and dragged back into the conference, I decided to simply walk around the building to get to parking.  Alas, alack and all that jazz:  I found myself facing a large plot of grassy land that looked a bit like a golf course.  Still, I began a fast clip to cross it and get around the building.  At one point, I walked past a coiled snake!  But as I was approaching the corner of the building, a steep mound of sand was blocking me.  I began to go up this mound of sand but, as I approached the top, it became apparent it was steeper than I had thought.  I reached to grab the top of the mound so i could pull myself over it.  The top gave way and I slid all the way back down the mound.  I then awakened and wondered where I had parked the car.

I hate my dreams lately.

My sincere condolences, DR vixmom, for the loss of your daughter's mother-in-law.

We are, most of us, at an age when death knocks on the door of our loved ones -- friends and family.

Thank you, Elmore, It’s my daughter’s MIL who passed, in Florida.

Vixdads folks have been gone for about six years now

Jrand, I believe the very rude, thoughtless wanted revenge against you for insisting she run her idea by the director.

I had a recurring dream last night. It's a dystopian future and there are no more short stories. Many people are involved, and I am an editor working with several. This time I receive a short story from Eleanor Coppola shortly before her death. I publish it quickly and start to distribute it.

Wow, what a dream.

In other versions of the dream, we never get to the publishing stage.

Maybe now that you got the book published and distributed you won't have the dream again.

Watching the rest of Civil War, which is about journalists crossing the country during the days of a Trump-like president’s third term. Carnage everywhere. It’s not an enjoyable film, but it’s well made. I like the use of music and some of the visuals are great. But … it’s just too close to the truth.

Stephen McKinley Henderson is great. Jesse Plemons has a memorable cameo.
