We have arrived safely in Chicago after a 1+ hour traffic jam approaching downtown.

Groan.

We can see Lake Michigan from our hotel room.

Nice view.  Enjoy your time in Chicago and have an easier drive home.

DR Singdaw there are Stan's Donuts in Chicago though I don't think they are as good as the original which doesn't make sense as they are the same recipes.

The first time I had them they were as good, not the second time.  Then Bryan moved and we haven't been back to Chicago except to the airport.

It's announcement time, boys and girls!
Here's what we're doing for the holiday season in place of Once Upon a Mattress.

I couldn't interest them in a Dickens adaptation this time around, and we went through a bunch of titles. I don't think this piece will set the world on fire, but we'll have some fun with it and it should put asses in seats.

DR ChasSmith - The Drake is at the corner of N Michigan Dr and E Lake Shore Dr. And that is Lakeshore Park.

Oh!  Got it! I was picturing that shot facing east, not north. Great location!

Thank you, Singdaw and Freddie. I have been very busy. My plate was overly full before
I decided to buy a condo, and now it’s rather insane. A steady diet of condo listings, as well as a few viewings. It’s a matter of trade-offs. The complex I like so much doesn’t offer units in the size I prefer—they’re either a bit small or too big. Sigh. There are units I like in other neighborhoods, but they’re not walkable. I really want walkable.

Yesterday I looked at two units (such a sterile and unwelcoming term), one a 1-bedroom, very nice but a bit small. The other was my friend Rebecca’s 2-bedroom. The agent told me it hadn’t been cleaned yet. I said it didn’t matter. But what got to me were the bags and bags and bags of clothes and other items waiting to be donated or tossed. So sad! It’s always sad after a death to see someone’s life reduced to a Goodwill pick-up, but in this case she was a friend as well. I didn’t expect it to hit me.

I think you need this epoxy flooring in your new kitchen.

So the ruminations continue. I will have to downsize in any case. My house in Alexandria, VA was three stories, plus a basement. Small rooms, but quite comfortable for me. And very walkable, both to the river (2 blocks) and the main drag full of small shops and restaurants (3 blocks). It was heaven! But California prices are unreal.

Well, I haven’t seen one like this, but I’ve seen some cockamamie remodels. Honestly!

Bruce didn’t say a lot about his conference call in the Notes, but I’d say it was very positive indeed. I think he knows all too well how these projects can tank in an instant. He and David Wechter should feel quite proud of their work, IMHO.

I'm going to have to get to know some more of his stuff. He's written a LOT based on works I already find interesting, and I don't think I've heard any of it.
