I am amazed at how shallow the roots were for this tree.  I have a few more much taller in the same area.  I reckon I'm going to have some work done getting all of them down if the ground isn't going to sustain them.

Good luck figuring out which trees need to be removed.

DR George has your niece always had hyperacusis or did it develope later?

She didn't always have it.  It developed maybe between 10-15 years ago. :-\

Better than having it as a child, still, I'm sorry there isn't a cure for it.

DR Elmore - coincidentally, someone in the Musical Theatre Orchestration group on FB just posted about Robert Russell Bennet's Instrumentally Speaking, which he's reading at the NYPL since it can't be checked out. He included photos of a bunch of individual pages, and it looks utterly fascinating. I would zip right through something like that myself, even though I have no earthly reason for doing so other than to further my own appreciation for the craft. And for learning more about the instruments themselves.

I love this book! It and the Collinson are perfect for a reprint service, and I don't know why nothing's been done about it.

To which I immediately thought:  What a wonderful project that would be for some nice place like, oh, say, Kritzerland, if rights were available and all that good stuff. Not that these things are of interest to the masses, but maybe Kritzerland could reach a fair amount of their audience.

Disclaimer:  I know nothing of what I'm talking about. But damn it to HELL, wouldn't that be great?

I thought about doing that to the corn.....but between shucking and cutting and cooking......it's too much work for today.

There will always be more corn, DR Jrand73. If there's one thing in life I know, it's that. It's out there. Waiting.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if, someday, somebody wrote a musical about it.

Don't forget to order Benjamin Kritzer if a newly-beautified edition interests you.

Shortly, I shall be on my way to the mail place and then to Gelson's to see about food - thinking a salad or something that looks like a salad.

I had a wonderful visit with my friend Dennis. We gossiped, caught up on things, and laughed a lot.

In an amusing twist, I got a check today from that guy who bought two CDs, filed a dispute with his cc company, got his CDs, but never responded to a single e-mail, at which point I simply wrote him and said I hope you feel good about yourself. Today, a check arrives - no note, nothing but the check.

I have the day off from work, but my colleagues who are scheduled to work can't; the entire state systems are down.

Sorry to hear about your choice of day off:

TOD: I'm in the middle of a Stan Kenton kick, so I just finished Live at Butler University on the CD player. I also finished streaming Silver Bullet Bluegrass, a set of bluegrass covers of Bob Seger songs that are quite good as long as you're not allergic to either bluegrass or Seger.
