So, I compared the two different tapes of Play On! (the "!" is part of the title) and the one recorded on the SP speed is better that the one taped on LP (I expected that) and the digital copy that I already had, which is a nice surprise.

After I finished watching The Big Combo last night, I spent some time looking thropugh Francis Collinson's wonderful book Orchestration for the Theatre. I had recommended it to my arranging student, but I hadn't looked at it in years. I thought I'd better check it out again. It's such a wonderful read.

Collinson was the music director for London producer Charles Cochran. He conducted the 1935 London production of Anything Goes.

George, I was being facetious yesterday about the plot of the movie. Rohmer made a whole bunch of movies in the 1970s and '80s with roughly the same setup. The ones I have seen are all wonderful.
