Anouk Aimee has died at 92. I may stream A Man and a Woman later.

Reading about the preparations for 127 made me think constantly of the 2014 Sherman show in NYC, and of what I've read of the Sherman birthday celebration shows in LA, but there's no question that 127 was the ultimate.

I need to take out the as-yet-unused kazoo we were all given when I played in How to Succeed, which I didn't have to play because at least a dozen of the orchestra played theirs, and sit down with "Two Roads".

That NYC show in 2014 was also terrific!

I’m sure I will get some sleep once I take the daytime muscle relaxer.

Sending more no-pain vibes!

I was in bed by 9:30 and slept well until 1:30. I then took several pills. The remainder of the night was a lot of pains and aches that one muscle relaxer, one painkiller, and one Tylenol did little to help.

Health vibes for Larry!

In other news, the auditions are OVER, thank the lord.

Practically everything about these two sessions fell somewhere between awkward and hideous. This was a classic community theeder turnout. Absolutely classic. I'd be tempted to put it right up there with Waiting for Guffman, but I wouldn't want to insult the movie.

This director is good, there's a good support system at this place, and I'm sure he'll whip the show (The Spitfire Grill) into shape. He's both directing and music directing, and he might call me in at some point to play a few rehearsals while he concentrates on the directing side, and that'll be fine. But oh man, the parade of humanity that passed through...

So here we are, at Day One of our heat wave. In a couple of hours I will start some A/C.

I'm spending most of the day indoors and working on some musical stuff.

And that's about enough of me, don't you think?

I certainly think.

It seems like I had one more observation to make re the Tonys, and it will have to come to me later.

Damned IRS assholes! According to the IRS Refund page, I'm getting a refund on Thursday. The amount given is  $49 less than the return requested.

So, in today's mail, I got a letter from the IRS, dated last Friday, in which I'm told m,y return will be delayed for possibly sixty days while I am investigated for IRS fraud. Seriously.

WTF?

Last night I started a French movie from France called The Taste of Things. It was not to be sampled on an empty stomach. It is about a 19th century French cook and his assistant (Juliette Binoche) preparing a stunning meal. It makes Babette's Feast seem like a snack.

The ghoulish auction of Sondheim stuff is now. And it is as hilariously horrifying as can be imagined. I have no idea who the bidders are either in person or online, although most seems to not be online. Things valued at $300 tops are going for thousands of dollars - things people wouldn't even give a second glance to - but they were owned by "the master." I've never seen anything like this.

Four posters of no particular value but for them being Sondheim shows, go for 4K. Valued at 200.

Starting bid might be 100 - first competing bid? 1200. I mean, lunacy.

No surprise, but The Heart of Rock and Roll is closing. The surprise to me is that there is a cast album

Starting bid 200 - first competing bid 2K - those are absentee or phone bids by people whose tops are those figures - no one and I mean no one is getting anything for a reasonable cost here. Even in huge celebrity auctions there are deals to be had and those auctions there are tons of dealers bidding in the mix. I don't know a single dealer who'd be in this mix. This is all crazy Sondheads, most of whom, I'm guessing, are the members of various Sondheim Facebook groups.
