I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of good sleep. Almost ten if you count the forty-five minutes from two-thirty to three-fifteen, at which point I was up until four-thirty.

The sound directly into the hearing aids while talking on the phone has greatly improved my life.  I don't say what nearly as much as I used to.

Do you have an iPhone?

What hearing aids did you get?

They are Phonak hearing aids.

Thanks.  They are a good brand.

Wonder what Sondheim would have made of The Stone Flower. The original story is one of a craftsman pursuing artistic perfection over romantic love. The ballet sort of Dinsney-fies things. The craftsman achieves that artistic perfection, then decides he misses his fiancee more. Love wins out. It's more audience appealing, but it feels cheap. Does Orpheus ever win Euridyce?

I am staying in today, mostly working on the computer. I've got several emails to write and I need to learn my landlord's new rent payment system.

Good luck, Larry!

TOD

I have a few shares of New York Times stock from when I was an employee of the Sarasota Herald -Tribune. In the last quarter, the return is almost 50% greater than it has been.

Very nice, John!

The rest are part of mutual funds within my retirement accounts. I don't have much say over them. I leave that to the experts.

If I knew if I had any mutual funds, I'd leave all that to the experts, too.

Other than that, I have just one thing to say:

It's getting hot out there.

I only drove a few blocks at a time in between my several stops, but the car was heating up a little more each time from being parked with the windows shut, and I was just being stubborn about not turning on the A/C for those short trips.

However, this is nothing. Let's not even look at next week. Shall we? No. Let's not.

I have no qualms about turning on the AC for short trips...but that's just me. ;)

It was $2.69 at Costco last week.

According to https://www.gasbuddy.com/, the local Costco gas is $3.99! :o

It's 85 here, which should be as high as it's going today.

Tomorrow, a couple of degrees less, and Sat./Sun. only around 77.

Next Wednesday through Friday:  HELL.  Low to mid 90s, and I find those things can always stick around longer. That will be our first official heat wave o' the year.

Oh, my!  It's pretty nice right now, and I think it's supposed to stay this way for a while.

I will share that my ride home was one of the noisiest experiences I have had in a long time.  Every little sound was amplified...especially while I was driving over newly paved road.

When I got home and out of the car, I was startled to hear rather loud bird song.  The hearing aids amplify noises the way a cell phone does for folks who call me.  I have had several calls when on my back porch when someone will ask how close that bird is to me...and I have to ask "What bird?".  I could hear birds chirping in the distance while the caller felt they were on my shoulder.

They will take some getting used to, but so far so good.

That's great, Ron!

Same here, if it is really hot outside.  The nice thing about short trips is that it doesn't have time to get cold inside the car.
