Are we talking about favorite sundaes?  'Cause mine would be a hot Fudge Sundae with Orange Sherbert.

Are we talking about first movies?  'Cause mine would be either Hey, There!  It's Yogi Bear or Disney's Bon Voyage (with Fred MacMurry.)

Before I say goodnight, I'll tell you about a Graeter's Turtle Sundae.  They blend together their fudge and caramel toppings, mix in chopped pecans, and pour over vanilla ice cream.  Wonderful!

Yep it was--Demon Days.  I think everyone in my office bought it last week.  I got half way through it but my mind started to wander from it and I switched to something else.  I'll get to the rest sometime this week.

Do you like the White Stripes?

You are right, DR Tomovoz, about CHARIOTS OF FIRE. No bigger piece of claptrap has been awarded so many honors.

Edy's Ice Cream is on sale at my local store this week, too - $1.99 for a standard sized container. I was tempted, but I had just gotten two Breyer's for the price of one last week, so no more room in the freezer for ice cream, especially since I only have it once a week.

The White Stripes I find sort of boring. I went to see DEVO at Central Park last year and the Stripes opened up and just made me want to hang myself, and then DEVO gets up there, and those guys just commanded the stage. I thought, that's the difference between a band that knows how to entertain and one that doesn't.

Demon Days really picks up on the last few cuts when Dennis Hopper narrates a song and a choir shows up. Fun.

I did get the front yard mowed, but it was hot outside and very sticky with humidity. Ugh! I am glad that's a chore done for another week or so. (If it would STOP raining, the grass would just DIE.)

DR Jed, I'm wishing you much good luck on your interview tomorrow. I'm posting this now since by the time you'd read anything I'd post tomorrow, the interview might well be over.

Keep the faith!

I love The White Stripes for their sparseness of sound.  It's just them and some backup on the records.  Very pure and very loud.

I also liked Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose CD last year that was produced by Jack White.  Again, very pure stripped down music.  It just appeals to me.

I haven't really heard the White Stripes other than live and a couple of tunes, so who knows?

I get BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE mixed up with BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS.
And THE PETRIFIED FOREST with THE BIG TREES.

Multiple topics?  Remember when we used to have free-for-all day, topic-wise, and we could never manage to come up with ONE topic?

I'm watching the documentary about Z Channel and Jerry Harvey.  I will have much to say.

Many thanks, MattH, and all you other wonderful vibe senders!  My interview at the library is at 11:45 PDT tomorrow morning.  We shall see what we shall see... at least I have specific experience for a change! :D  Anyway, I will be starting another round of test scoring on Thursday, lasting through mid-July or, hopefully, whenever this library job would start.

Good evening!

So... The "adventures" with the local contractor continues...

The assistant conductor called me earlier tonight to apologize for the mix-up with the rehearsal yesterday.  And after that he asked, "So, has the contractor gotten back to you about playing some more shows this week?"

No.

So...  I know my schedule, but the person who is supposed to give me that schedule has yet to do so.

Hmmm...

OH!

DR Ginny - It's Whitey's Ice Cream.  And they're strictly a Quad Cities operation.  Not in Chicago.  But...  I can take out my list of Chicago favorites later...

Just got back from my first rehearsal for 42ND STREET.  Now, you will notice that I said my first rehearsal.  The rest of the cast has been together for several weeks.  Tonight's rehearsal?  LULLABY OF BROADWAY.  Oh yeah, an artificial hip and four steel rods in my back..... and I am dancing?

On the bright side, our Julian Marsh is drop-dead gorgeous!!

Oh, and I think that's Whitey's White Chocolate Raspberry featured above.  White chocolate flavored ice cream with red raspberry swirled throughout and mixed with raspberry chocolate almond flakes.

Although I think the flavor I ordered the most was:

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER REVEL - Chocolate flavored ice cream with brownie bits mixed in and peanut butter swirled throughout.

...And there's a rather "famous" story about a beauty pageant finalist who made it to the final round.  When it came down to the question and answer period, she was asked how she would like to improve the world.  Her answer was something along the lines of, "I'd like world peace and Whitey's for everyone!"

-Well... the out-of-towners thought she was saying "whities" and not "Whitey's".   There were both laugh and gasps after she answered.
