Well, you've read the notes, the notes interrupted the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the interrupted cows come home.

I had such a horrible night of sleep that I'm surprised Annabelle and Thatch didn't abandon me. They stayed with me until the al;arm rang, then ran off to do their morning ablutions before breakfast.

DR singdaw, about 10 years ago I binge watched the complete Upstairs Downstairs - it took days - and loved every minute of it. Did you finish watching Belgravia?

TOD

This past week I returned to the very strange films by writer Charlie Kaufman -- Being John Malkovich and Adaptation -- and appreciated them more than I had in the past. They're bizarre, which is not a complaint, and I know I still don't quite follow every little development in either of them yet. But I like them.

Those two were directed by Spike Jonez, who had a certain touch with them. The casting is incredible, whatever one might think of the films. This weekend I'm going to try tackling, for only my second time since it was released, his film Synecdoche, New York. He directed that one himself, and all I remember from my first time is that it (along with the lead character played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman) will put you through the wringer. It's a very tough film, and I'm interested to see how it will play for me now.

I remember that Roger Ebert loved Synecdoche. I don’t remember much of it. So I look forward to your report, ChasSmith. I do own a copy.

Friday!!!  No rehearsal tonight.

Tony Kirby was quite surprised by his continental greeting last night as was everyone else onstage - except Alice, I told her what was coming.

I just told the actor, Cameron, to remember his reaction and try to duplicate it in performance......

The actor playing Donald has been told SEVERAL times to NOT read the lines with an African American dialect.....and yet he still persists.....it is most jarring and offensive....but this is a job for the director.

This is the same actor who decided previously that since he was in a play by William Shakespeare, he should use an English accent - which he couldn't do anyway.  Finally after many notes and suggestions the director just said:  "Knock it off, Olivier!"

Last night we watched Original Cast Album: Company with Sondheim's commentary, and then a Frank Rich interview with Steve and Jonathan Tunick. I watched a bit of the parody Original Cast Album: Co-Op, but I wasn't amused enough to watch it all.

I've googled the situation regarding YouTube, and the proliferation of ads is unfortunately their stated intention.

In so many words, they say they intend to monetize their videos to the hilt, regardless of their content or what the agreement between certain uploaders and YouTube may be. I might not have that entirely right, but the situation right now is reprehensible for the number and frequency of ads, and just plain stupifying for their sometimes bizarre content, as BK notes.

I'm finding varying degrees of success in avoiding the ads on different platforms. Whatever protection is built into the MacBook and Safari, I believe I'm not getting many ads there. I've also downloaded and installed a "content blocker" on the iPads (the old one and the Pro), and the phone, even though I hardly ever watch videos there.
But on these I'm definitely seeing way fewer ads now, and one sign that something is at work is my having to hit the "play" button on certain videos because they no longer start automatically. I can deal with that. I'm a devout user of ad blockers, anyway. I allow as little of that noise into my life as I can.

EDIT:  The blocker I'm trying is AdLock from the app store.

I'm a prime candidate for the booster vaccine, so  the other day I looked up places with the Moderna vaccine in my area. I think I will make an appointment after the colonoscopy next week.

TOD, continued --

I also returned to the two "Capote" films of 2005 or 2006, Capote and Infamous. I was curious to watch the latter again for only my second time, so I watched it last night and will watch the former, which I saw a few times back in the day, tonight.

In both, the lead actors' Capote impressions are jarring at first, then they "settle in". But I feel the same way about equally fine actors who have played Alfred Hitchcock and other well known celebrities, politicians, etc. You just have to get past that and let them do their job, and the results are usually good.

My only real criticism of Infamous in this regard is that the casting of a few of the minor characters seems to call attention to itself, one example being Peter Bogdanovich playing Bennett Cerf. I love Bogdanovich. But in this film I'm a little twoo aware that it's Bogdanovich pretending to be someone else.

So tired of being stuck in the house.

Except for doctor appointments and going to get the mail, I haven't been out for well over a year.

The taxi driver was wonderful and agreed to wait with the meter running while I ran in, picked up the prescriptions, and left. I told him it would be no more than five minutes.

Everything was ready and waiting for me EXCEPT the colonoscopy kit. The pharmacists checked and it had never arrived three weeks ago as the doctor's assistant promised.

I called my HMO while cursing like a Turrette syndrome role model. It took forever before a nice young lady in prescriptions contacted Dr. Finkelstein's assistant Wanda - the one who dropped the ball when I made the appointment three weeks ago - told me she would send the prescription. Fifteen minutes later I left the pjarmacy with all of my prescriptions.
