Last night, lying in bed before falling asleep, I thought of 2 distinct things that I absolutely HAD to search on YouTube. And now, in the light of day, I can't think of either of them.

I do that ALL THE TIME with things in general, usually things I think of that I'd google if the google were right in front of me.

It's maddening.

I have been reading a lot about hummus online. Hummus the authentic Mideastern way. It really gives me a hankering to try doing it from scratch. From what I have been reading, there are lots of tricks and tips to get a more smooth, silky, "authentic" result. Apparently some in Israel use thin onion "scoops" to eat it instead of fluffy fresh pita bread. I could go either way.

The rabbit hole is such an amazing thing. There are always new ways to think of to search for something, and never mind the limitless number of things to search on in the first place. This is why we need at least a five hundred year life span.

I also now have a strange, unexplained hankering for sopa de albondigas.                  8)

And I found a great-looking recipe for spaghetti with lemon pesto.  But I don't have any Amalfi lemons at hand.

Hello one and all.....brand new Broadway Radio Show is now up on this here site.  This week it's Putting It Together: Finian's Rainbow.  We'll hear the classic score by Yip Harburg & Burton Lane using 4 different cast recordings, plus some fun bonus tracks at the end from a wacky studio cast recording.  Enjoy!

Do any of our Menotti aficionados have an opinion on the opera Maria Golovin?

I took my LP (which apparently is quite rare) off the shelf and found that this copy -- which oddly, I specifically remember buying at the record store across Melrose and down the block from Aron's -- is in bad shape. The damage is completely invisible. Rare, fine, but this one ain't worth a dime, so I searched CDs and found that Naxos issued it.

However, it must be out of print, and the listings are such that I don't know who I'd trust to order from. I started to buy the one for sale on Amazon, and the ship date comes back as late March to early April. What are they doing, copying and pressing bootlegs? Anyway, no hurry on it, just wondered.

I have certainly heard of it, DR ChasSmith, but have never heard it.

There is a full version here, from NBC Opera Theater, 1959:

When life doesn't hand you Amalfi lemons, head for Amalfi. Or something like that.

Went for a long walk to the library. Felt good to be able to do that. I may go for another walk later.

There is a zoom production of the Mystery of Edwin Drood on at 7:30 p.m. ET tonight, if anyone wants to check it out. I saw the show in previews and always enjoyed that score.

You do have to make a reservation.

I like the Menotti piece. The Naxos "release" is a bootleg - using the EU fifty-year rule. Don't know if it's good or bad. I wouldn't buy anything on Amazon that took that long to ship.
