Grubhub is, as far as I know, the ONLY delivery service that you can actually contact immediately, either by chat or phone and who are proactive about fixing issues.

I just washed my hair for the first time in days. Feel human again.

Have you been without water or was it just too cold to get into the shower?  DR Druxy reported on FB that he doesn't have water.

When we lost power in our three homes with well water we also lost our water.

I hadn’t had hot water for days. Even the cold water was limited. I haven’t taken a shower because the bathtub is still filled. I just washed my hair in the sink. Also, with the boil water advisory, they’re warning you not to get the water from the faucet in your eyes

I feel for you.  Is the bathtub for the toilet are are you also boiling it?

DR John do you have enough drinking water without boiling it?  Unless you have gas that is a problem when the power is out.

I've been reading the new Mike Nichols biography.

I plan to read that next. Such a fascinating figure. Loved the PBS special on him.

Well, I'm off.  My mom called and asked if we could play cards tonight instead of tomorrow, and I said that that was fine, so we will tonight, and not tomorrow.

Be back later.

A heating pad over the injection site kept my arm from getting too stiff and sore after the first vaccine. Just passing that along.

A heating pad, not ice?  :o

Yes. A heating pad helps healing. Ice just delays the healing from beginning.

I have enough for now. I have a number of bottles as well as canned seltzer. I probably need to restock next week.

I haven't used it yet. But it would likely be for the toilet.

I loved the first Wonder Woman film which was directed by Patty Jenkins.  She should have stuck to directing and left the writing to others in Wonder Woman 84.  While I found it very disappointing I didn't hate it like Bruce did, but then I am a fan of super hero films.

It's strange to think about things this way, but this week has been such a battering experience that as I approach 24 hours of being with power, I'm wondering when it's going to go out. I did start that movie tonight and I've gotten an hour into it. Will I have to start it again? Maybe. Do I remember where the lighter is? And the candles? Because it's dark now and I would have to feel my way to them.

I keep one of these next to my bed.  It is easy to find as it glows in the dark.  I can also clip it to my pants loop with a carbine clip.

What I need are the larger flashlights we always kept stocked that no longer work.

We have one camping lantern left.  I need batteries for it to find out if it works.  I think we should look for a new one.

Just finished a sci-fi horror flick called High Life, which I, surprisingly, enjoyed. It wasn't about the gadgets. It was about some rather not nice people whose penal colony is a space ship far from earth.

They don't even make the tall style we had two of and now are down to the one I don't think works.

And yes, at one time we needed all those flashlights and lanterns on a somewhat regular basis.

I just remembered we still have one Eveready flashlight left.  I tend to forget about it as it is under the guest bathroom sink.  We still need newer and better flashlights.

Any suggestions?

That was part of the intrigue of it. You had to see what your sympathies led you to and how they could be changed by developments.

I'm starting The Browning Version, which I haven't seen in quite a while. Loved it before.

I am exhausted from the rigors of a fairly normal day. I think I'm going to retire.

This evening I got in just in time to stream the Met’s Cav/Pag from 1978. Somehow I had never seen this one, and it was an enjoyable trip back to their earliest years in telecasts. Domingo and Troyanos in Cav, Domingo, Stratas and Milnes in Pag. Stratas is who I was most interested in, as I had never seen her in this opera, and she was delightful. This was just a year before Mahagonny. The Zeffirelli production was nice, and even the orchestra was beautiful. Actually, no, I have to take that back because they pulled their crap of showing stills and storyline captions during preludes. Glad they eventually got over that.

Tomorrow night, Don Giovanni.

Whoa. Jerry Hadley’s in it.

1990. I never saw this one either.
