Forget to say that I went to Art's Deli and got matzoh brei this morning - not very good, like everything at Art's, but I killed some time.  When I got home, I had a frozen dinner and some chips, and a few pieces of saltwater taffy.

Listening to music - the Barber piano concerto - one of the great ones.  Of course, this performance, which is okay, doesn't come near Szell/Browning but it's not bad.

How ironic!  I was listening to Barber music yesterday myself.

Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris is giving a speech now!

Thanks George.  I ran into Keith's office and watched both speeches with him.

Joe Biden is speaking!!

We thought it was a great speech, and no teleprompter.

I thought it was unfortunate that the names Geraldine Ferraro and Sarah Palin were not mentioned in passing.

I've been watching MSNBC and at sometime during their coverage, they did mention both of them.  Of course, not everyone is watching MSNBC.

We have wild horses at the river. I saw a band of them yesterday when I was driving up north.

Speaking of wild horses, can I ask you, please, to sign this petition and stop this vruel, barbaric practice?

One of the first friends I made when I moved to Virginia was Mitt Murray, a thirty-something gay male from Delaware. When Mitt learned that I knew very few people there he suggested I meet his parents, who knew tons of people. I did so, and we became friends in our own right. One day when I was visiting them in Delaware we attended a sort of county fair at one of the local colleges. Mitt's dad said, "Ah! Joe's here." Mitt's mom said, "We'll introduce you." A few minutes later a man walked up to us and the three of them were very friendly. Mitt's parents then introduced me to Senator Joe Biden. We all chatted for a while, then Joe left to say hello to some other people.

Joe Biden is one of the most personable people I've ever met. After chatting with him for a few minutes I felt I'd known him all my life. Delaware is a small state and if you are interested in politics it is very easy to get to know the players.

That's so cool, Jeanne!

Mitt's parents were so accepting and welcoming of all of Mitt's friends. If you were a friend of Mitt's you were welcome anytime. I'd never experienced any people who were so friendly and accepting. It was so clearly important to many of Mitt's gay friends who hadn't found acceptance at home.

Mitt's parents and I stayed in touch. Several years later I'd just returned home to Virginia after my father's death here in California to learn that Mitt had passed away of AIDS. I'd been so busy taking care of my dad that I hadn't heard that Mitt was ill. It was such a shock.

During the following years some of us would get together with Mitt's parents. They loved to see us and talk to us; it was like a lifeline to their beloved son. They're gone now, too, and I do miss them. Today I'm saying a little prayer to the three of them and celebrating what they didn't live to see: Joe Biden's victory.

That's a great story, too, Jeanne. :)

Back from, for me, a pointless casting session, as I suspect Zoom will be tomorrow.  There was only one person reading four our show and I've worked with her before and she's not right for the role, much as I like her as a person.

That's too bad.

Wow, the Navajo Nation in Arizona, went solidly for Joe Biden, with a 97 percent turnout for Biden.

That's amazing!

Here's a close-up:

Very nice.  How thick is it?

I didn't measure the thickness of the actual flag, but THIS is what I bought.  It says that it's 3.3 inches deep.  I assume that that's the outside measurement.  When we put the flag in it, the back bowed out a bit, but we were able to close it up.  The frame that I got from Amazon, was a bit smaller in all dimensions, but both said that they fit a flag that's 9' x 5.5'.  Our flag didn't fit in the Amazon frame.  Fortunately, I can send that one back. :)

I suppose I should have gotten a frame for my father’s flag, but I never had the desire.

Good Morning - and what a morning it has been!!!  Today, I expect to get some packing done.  I have a meeting to go to - now I wished I would have voted for a Zoom meeting - and my stint at church and home again for dinner, more packing and probably a celebratory drink and cigar, depends on the weather.

Great work, America!

Vibes you get it all done with time for the cigar and drink.  I want to know what they both are.

So, book packing is going.  The bottle of Makers Mark 101 needs to be opened... it may be too cold later for a cigar, but I may suck it up and go outside anyway.  That speech by Kamala and Joe was amazing... getting all emotional again.  We are in good hands.

Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin and Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat made up the program, Elmore. I liked the Ravel. The Stravinsky music was good but the narration was endless.

There were 200+ people at the concert tonight, a decent turnout, but in that hall, it just was underwhelming. I hope there were a lot of people who paid for the live streaming. The musicians were excellent.
