I wore my mask while eating my food.  Very interesting. :)

I think I'm fine, mask-wise.  If I have to wear it to Gelson's I'm in and out fast enough to not have it be an issue.  Our longtime Kritzerland musical director posted this:  As you know, my wife works at a hospital and she is on the “Corona Floor” as they call it every other day. Masks do not stop the virus. What it does do is give people a false sense of security. They think if they put a bandana around your face that you are invincible from giving or getting the virus. My wife wears TWO MASKS and protective gear that looks like the hazmat suits in E. T. and still nurses are getting sick. You really think a bandana from banana republic is going to keep this at bay?

I do not.  I just hope it keeps sick people from infecting me.

Remember that staff on the "Corona Floor" have a much longer exposure to the virus than we do just going out for brief shopping.

I just quickly tested Messenger video chat with a friend who has never done it.  We will have a better chat tomorrow now that she knows how it works.

Jane, no one's gonna infect you if you stay away from them.  Will not happen.

But they walk up to me too often.  We go to great lengths to avoid them when we are walking.  It is getting better now, still they don't distance correctly.  In a market it is more difficult to keep the distance unless there aren't many people inside.

Do I think you should be required to wear a mask outside, no.

From the NY Times.

These Coronavirus Exposures Might Be the Most Dangerous
As with any other poison, viruses are usually deadlier in larger amounts.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/01/opinion/coronavirus-viral-dose.html?fbclid=IwAR3cdWC_4tHNJux4Gy_H1ovnQ2gzA4HWh7_qEKlpazhk9aW-qUuA1F5I36U

To me this is obvious by the higher number of deaths of healthy young people working in the hospitals treating the virus patients.

Hi, everybody, hope y'all are well.  I am well but BORED.  I had planned on continuing my conversation with DR Tom when my entire system went dead.  No computer, no tv, no landline, nada.  Had to wait over 24 hours for a repair guy. When he arrived, I was glad to see he was wearing mask and gloves but he had to go buy them himself.  Fortunately it only took half an hour for him find a short in the cable and change it out.  I have tv, computer, landline, the works.  I forgot how quiet it can be without tv, etc.  It's bad enough that you can't go anywhere but with no entertainment,       AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH HHHHHHH!

With my livelihood depending on my working from home and with the aid of electronics of all kinds, I find that aggravating in the extremes. Glad you're back with us.

I missed the stream of Pride & Prejudice. Maybe they'll repeat it.

I'm watching LA Now and Then instead. Loving it. The pacing is great. I don't remember seeing all of the songs before. Really enjoyed the singer who did the Roxy number.

Just finished watching L.A. NOW AND THEN. Most enjoyable, and as DR John G. said, it's great to experience the pacing of the show.

Thinking back to Act 1 from last night, I *think* we saw this before (?) - but I was blown away by the Pan Pacific Auditorium monologue. I was ready to throw something at City Hall. That thing burned on my third to last evening in L.A. (a Wednesday) and I watched the smoke and flames from my room in the Holiday Inn, my last home between getting out of my apartment and flying east that Saturday morning.

No, I've never shown the Pan Pacific monologue before.  I wrote that in thirty minutes and never changed a word of it.

Loved THE BLACK DAHLIA tonight.

Loved the variety show style of HULLABALOO.

With CHRISTMAS IN LOS ANGELES, I was missing my years living in Hollywood like crazy.

yes, but it also shows how much from the heart it was.

Just finished the show.

Excellent band. What great fun they made everything with their sound.

Loved the choreography, including the disco number as well as Hullabaloo and L.A. Is a Great Big People Stew.

Favorite songs were Sunset Strip, Whimsy Works, Black Dahlia, At the Disco and Mr. Helms Man. (I'm sure they're not exactly right.)

Robert Yacko was very good with his monologue about being gay in LA.

Doug Haverty wrote the gay monologue.  It took forever to get it right.  He originally wrote it for two people and I said, "What about the word monologue don't you understand?" Then he made it a monologue and a VERY long one that was originally six pages longer.  I kept making him take out anything that wasn't germane and we got rid of four of those six pages, and then I just diagrammed for him what was important to the story flow and what  wasn't and he made the final cuts and it was kind of perfect - plus we had to work in the song with it all.

I had to remove a thread on my timeline tonight because Barry Pearl came into it with a very weird post that looked like it was castigating me for saying something I hadn't said or anything like it, rather like what happened here last night.  He clarified a couple of posts later that he was being general but the damage was done, which you could see by the people who "liked" his post and ignored his subsequent posts as well as mine as well as the others who totally saw what had happened.  It was irritating but the likes were from people who want to believe the worst in everything and I'm going to unfriend every one of them for it and for not having the courtesy to even read the subsequent explanatory posts.  It was an interesting conversation up until that point, with much humor and respect.  To the people who understood what was going on and were supportive I said thanks.  And Barry knows what he did was worded poorly, at least that's what his subsequent post implied.  But, a simple click of a button and whoosh, gone with the damn wind.

Now I'm watching Woody Allen's Interiors. I hated this movie when it first came out, and I think I can encapsulate it all into Geraldine Page's magnificent, supremely irritating performance. And I sort of feel this way in a great many movies she's in. I find it hard to watch her because she's so good at projecting a neediness to the depths of her being. And it's a little too facile for Allen in his memoirs to claim he's not an intellectual. He may not be, but he's certainly a failed intellectual, and the stodgy, wannabe Bergman script here is proof.

But I do find it funny that whoever wrote the notes on the back of the Interiors DVD got Marybeth Hurt's and Kristin Griffith's characters backwards.
