I might be hesitant to attend a performance at the Cupcake Theatre without my rompers on.

And here is the original, complete Broadway production number for "The Lusty Month of May," performed by Sierra Boggess and the John Wilson Orchestra from the 2012 BBC Proms.  The conductor is my friend John Wilson. The dance arrangement, as well as the choral arrangement, is by my late - and sorely missed - friend Trude Rittman, best Broadway dance arranger ever. Drag out your Camelot vocal score and follow along.

Whatever this problem I have is, it's nerve-related: I hobbled to the bank in agony, saw a teller, turned around, and walked out with no pain.  I got onto a 104 bus to Seventh Ave and 57th Street.  As soon as I stood up, the agony was back.  I got to City Center around 10:30, where I had a meltdown and crying jag.  Annabelle wants to play and patrol and I can't.  It breaks my heart.  Joshie and I accomplished all the adjustments for Act One.  Around 2:30 my doctor's office called about my stopping in tomorrow around 9:45.

We finished up around 3:15, and I could barely walk out of the building. Joshie came down to the street with me, hailed me a taxi, and I am home in one piece.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain, DR Elmore. Can you find a position to sit or lie in that's relatively comfortable?

Vibes you feel better very soon!

Re smog checks:

I take my car to a place in Culver City across from the DMV. It takes about twenty minutes. You can call ahead and ask how long the wait is, but I usually just take it in on a weekday and there's no problem.

TCB, I've definitely been following your condo adventures drama.

Real estate agents usually provide comps to the prospective buyer so that you know what a fair price is relative to other properties. The sold properties are. of course, a better indicator than those unsold, as the sold properties had to get through the appraisal process in most cases. Did your agent do this? There's always the chance that the appraiser was in a bad mood or was ignorant of certain features, but it does establish a range of prices from multiple buyers and multiple appraisers. The ball is largely in the seller's court to prove that their asking price is fair and justified. Sometimes the appraisal isn't reflective of the property's value.

What's the latest?

I awoke to a list of something called the Valley Theatre Awards.  There are so many awards - I think I've heard of this but, you know, the Valley.  Anyway, A Carol Christmas is up for best musical of the year, Doug and I are up for best writing for a play or musical (why no separate category for best score is a shame - I think I'd be the only nominee), two of our actors are up - one lead, one support although they seem to have them swapped, category-wise - I'm up for best director of a musical - I think that's about it.  A few other actors from other Group Rep shows are up, too.  Now, in every category we're up against a theater called the Cupcake - they will take them all - that's what happens every year.  Even though I've directed shows in the Valley before, I think these are fairly new.  I have no idea WHO votes on these or how it works.

Congratulations on the nominations!  Vibes you win instead of the Cupcake theater.

Picked up packages (although the one I was most looking forward to arrived about twenty minutes after I left), did some banking, had Taco Bell for my 1000 calories (1100 to be really accurate) and am now trying to relax and listening to music to help do that.

I’m in the middle of re-reading Trollope’s Phineas Finn. I wanna go home and read more.

Is this your favorite of his novels?

Back from the second and last of the shows for students.

And these were KIDS, man. Like, little elementary school kids.

Amazingly, though, they always sit quietly throughout the show, regardless of what it is, and then go crazy when it's time to laugh or applaud or otherwise react. Obviously there are jokes and situations that go right over their heads, but that doesn't matter. Their behavior could almost make one believe that we come cut of the womb knowing how to comport ourselves, and at some point it's all sucked away and has to be relearned.

It is heartwarming to know it was worth getting up early for the students.

I just got back from Wal-Mart where I got a new battery for my watch.

I hate being without a working watch.

My last watch, a non-battery, died about 2 years ago.

Great watch.  Lasted over 50 years.  My parents gave it to me on my 21st birthday.

I would have had it fixed, but the repair would have cost much more than the watch was worth.
