Just watched the DVD - two commercials, one of which I have absolutely no memory of doing.  That one is for Aqua Chem, some pool cleaner thing.  The final shot is me on a raft in the pool - I am so skinny. :)  The other commercial is one of my best - one of the airline commercials.  I talk about it in the first memoir - where poor F. William Parker, my co-star, had to do almost 100 takes.

Today, the family is getting together for our weekly family dinner.  Tonight, the cast of Bunbury is getting together again for a cast party.  It'll be a late night, but I have no plans on Sunday except for the aforementioned ushering in the evening.

DR TCB,  basically I do not eat crustaceans or shell fish.  I will eat clam chowder or clam dip and on the extremely rare occasion have had a bite of crab cake.

(The theaters in that region of CT do not open on Fridays. Only place I've known that to be the case, but it's been the case there for the couple of decades I've known them.)

After I've fed the cats and gone back to bed, the little devils won't let me sleep!  They climb all over me.  I know Annabelle does it because she wants me up patrolling with her.  Thatch likes to play and explore.

I think a complete set of commercials done by one person over however many years would be an amazingly fun thing to see.

Favorite commercials:

The Indian crying over America's litter
Alka Selzer's spicy meatball
Wendy's Where's the beef
Ethel Merman selling dishwashing liquid -- was it Vel?
Mickey for Life Cereal
The Cincinnati theme park, Kings Island, used "Comedy Tonight" for their theme song, which I loved before I knew it was Sondheim.
The anti-smoking commercial that used The Best Is Yet to Come
The Publix grocery ad that used The Christmas Waltz

Just got word that my early dance lesson has been canceled. I could have slept an extra hour. Maybe I'll head back to bed.

My favorite commercials are the Alka-Selzer with Alice Playten and the State Farm with Jake ("she sounds hideous." "Yeah, well, she's a guy").

The commercial I currently detest is the Volvo, using a dreadful - is that a real voice? - soprano singing the Queen of the Bight's second aria. And weren't they the same car company that had last year a dreadful commercial singer doing a lousy rendition of "My Favorite Things"?

Planning to make a galette with plums mixed with loquats from the tree out back. What I can't figure out is how much seasoning it needs. I found a recipe that only uses sugar. No lemon juice, no cinnamon. Have to think about what to use.

I'm not sure I can name many absolutely favorite commercials from the past, though "Where's the beef!" is certainly a contender.

Yes! Horrible. I generally dislike the use of any existing music. Opera or musical or pop song, anything at all. It cheapens the music horribly. Who was it that used "Bushel and a Peck" so badly last year or the year before? The way they truncate and end them is sometimes the worst offense, even if it sounds like they're being "authentic" at the start of it.

But favorites of right now? GEICO, hands down. And I historically never liked them. But this new crop are damned entertaining. I think the camel one (hump day) is the winner of all time.
