John G, I'm glad to hear that your dad has "graduated" to a rehab facility. I think they're much nicer places, as patients are on the mend and it's a more positive environment. I hope he's comfortable and can continue healing in pleasant surroundings.

Vibes for his continued improvement.

I'm always amazed at how much outreach Vixmom's church does. But questions remain:

Where are these people housed? Does the church have dormitory facilities? Is this male only or are women helped too? Do other churches in the area do much?

I'm particularly impressed with the lunch bags. But also the whole program.

I had a wonderful afternoon at Encores!  The performance went very well, but our guest star is ill and missing bother performances today.  I got to speak to a couple of friends backstage, and there are a couple of performers in the show I personally dislike a lot so I stayed out of their way.  In the talkback with the audience, Joshie and I got lovely mentions from both Rob Berman and Jack Viertel. He deserved it much more than I because he worked his butt off on the show.  I'm just grateful to be working.

We have a gym and we have thirty cots and bedding. I amtold that we have about 10 women regulars and about 15 men.... I myself have not chaperoned or cooked since my work hours conflict.  I understand the other churches have similar programs ...

Glad the Encores performance went well, DR elmore.   I thought about going to NY for the weekend to see that show and a couple of others but it just didn't work out.

Tonight for dinner I made a roasted spaghetti squash , then I sauteed  some sliced mushrooms, garlic, sliced grape tomatoes and sliced roasted red peppers in a little oil oil

While the veggies stayed warm in the oven I browned the two chicken breasts I had previously flattened and seasoned

Many years ago, my boyfriend and I had gone over to a friend's house, a short walk. This was down on the Marina peninsula, before it was wall-to-wall condos, and there was lots of open space. While visiting with the friend we hear a noise outside, which sounded like it might be a cat. We went outside and there was our cat, pining after us. We took him home and all was well. I'd never heard of other cats doing this sort of thing. My other cats never did.

Cute story.  Your cat must have followed you there unbeknownst to you.

DR John, is it a rehab facility or nursing home?  To me they are not always equal, especially when it comes to the rehab portion.

I'm told it's a rehab facility.

Thank you, all, for the vibes. They do help. Dad is said to have slept through most of the day.

I went to an annual get-together with folks from church to make chili for our chili cook-off tomorrow.

We always make two pots. The winner goes to church tomorrow for the cook-off. The loser gets eaten.

I used a recipe from a book called A Bowl of Red, about chili in Texas and the founders of the Terlingua Chili Cook-off.

I'm now at home with Woody Allen's Irrational Man playing. I really don't like Joaquin Phoenix. And I really like Parker Posey and Emma Stone. I'm grateful it's only 93 minutes long.

Yes. Please. My guess was Tommy Tune doing Tap Your Troubles Away.
