I love so many Mexican foods, it wouldn't be possible to list them -- all the standard "American" stuff, and then some. And while I haven't experienced it in years, DR John G.'s observation about the corn tortillas and margaritas being better across the border just rings true.
I probably don't really know from Tex-Mex, as opposed to, say, Southern California style Mexican, but I had a few meals in the Dallas area that were wonderful.
Whenever I think about this, I miss my favorite Mexican jernts from back in the day in L.A. The ones that immediately come to mind are El Carmen on West 3rd Street, Antonio's on Melrose, Oblatt's, Topper's in Santa Monica, the Red Onion chain (which I liked better than the other chains), and a few mom-and-pop hole-in-the-wall places that I probably never knew the names of but they were always wonderful and I wish I could better memorialize them. And finally, the food trucks in and around Bell, Vernon, and City of Industry where I'd occasionally visit one of our plants, long before food trucks became a THING. I hope they are still there for those workers in those parts of town. The other places above are now but a memory, with - I think - the exception of Antonio's which seems to still be alive if I'm to believe what I read on the World Wide Web.
EDIT: And the little food carts in Mexico!
