Thanks to ALL for the thoughts and vibes for Trent.

The surgery finally started at 8:30 p.m. - 12 1/2 hours after it was scheduled - the lungs did indeed miss the first flight....and then the second flight itself was delayed.....

Transplant was completed at 3:15 a.m. - then there was the closing up.....so he is still in recovery.  This process will be long, but we shall see.  A lung transplant does NOT cure the cystic fibrosis since the disease is still in the cells of the body, but it does make breathing easier and the quality of life is better.

Today Precious has a vet appt. at 5 p.m.   She has been scratching and biting and has some "hot spots".....not sure what is wrong...and I am sure the vet will yell at me....but maybe he will give her a shot that will stop the symptoms.....or something.

TOD:   Will, once again, be flying east to Columbia SC via Atlanta GA.

I will be met by my mom and my Aunt Doris.  We will drive back to Johnston SC to begin, once again, our rituals of holiday dinners, lunches at the Edgefield Pool Room, shopping in North Augusta SC and Aiken SC, the placing of flowers on graves, and for multiple games of Skip-Bo.

Departure:  Dec. 12, 2016
Return: Dec. 29, 2016

I discovered a store in SA that sells loose Russian candies that you can buy by the bag. They all come in bright wrappers and are labeled in some unreadable, Cyrillic letters. (The exception is one simply labeled Vodka, which, I guess, transcends language barriers.) tGuessing what a candy will be is part of the fun.

I hadn't seen this outside of some of the stores in Little Odessa.

Blood pressure is under control.

Blood sugar is under control.

Heart beat is steady.

Some part of my meds robs me of energy most of the time.  I told my doctor yesterday that, on the rare occasion when I forget to take my morning pills regimen, I suddenly find myself possessed of energy I "used to have" in abundance.  Now that I know what causes it, I make extra sure I've taken my morning pills.

The doctor pointed to my "carvedilol" prescription and said "All the 'lols' can do that to you".

Tuesday morning greetings!  I will be E & T most of the day because I have a book discussion at noon at the library where my career began and a 3:15 appointment to have my eyes examined.

Ron P - I'd never thought of that, energy level for quality of life, being a side effect of a necessary drug.  I'll have to pay more attention to those kinds of side effects.

Hopefully we will just have a nice quiet Christmas.  My family usually does visits and gift exchanges - if any - before the REAL day, so that everyone has the REAL day for themselves and their families......

I am home and all wet from the rain.  The therapy was painful this morning.  My left thigh is all knotted up again and that was one painful massage.  I began the bikes tofday, so I did 2 miles and burned 40 or so calories.

Then I bused down to Lincoln Center to buy the movie tickets for tomorrow night.  While I was waiting for the box office to open, I sat in the lobby, and the young man at the door and I chatted.  when I told him we wanted to see the movie tomorrow since it ended on Thursday, he checked the schedule and told me it was playing all next week.  They don't post the next week's schedule until Tuesdays.

So . . . I called Charlotte and we are going next week.  Other good news?  My check will be ready for pickup tomorrow.  Thank God.

Tom, yesterday, said:
Quote
With that much sodium, it sounds like Jimmy Dean's.

The sodium was kind of high, too (1030 mg, 43% daily value), but it was 400 mg of cholesterol that was 133% daily value.

It actually was Atkins Farmhouse-Style Sausage Scramble.

I have read too many bad things about the Atkins diet.  This just adds to them  :o

I'm planning on going to San Angelo for a few days. I'll probably leave on Christmas Day if my friends in town continue their Christmas Eve party and liquor exchange. And of course, DR Jane will be here around that time. Is the date still Dec. 23?

Yes.  We will be at the Westin Hotel Riverfront.  Are you still free?
