Christmas Eve I may go to church and then back home to finish wrapping packages and listening to holiday music.

Christmas Day is presents and dinner at my sister's house.

The sodium was kind of high, too (1030 mg, 43% daily value), but it was 400 mg of cholesterol that was 133% daily value.

It actually was Atkins Farmhouse-Style Sausage Scramble.

We always go to my parents' house for Christmas Eve, and my sister's on Christmas Day in the afternoon.

I'll bet it was good.

Good, but not great.  I think if it had a cheesy sauce, it could've been better, but it's still too much cholesterol.  I'm trying to cut down.

Yes, that is crazy to have 133% of your daily limit.

JohnG - what a fascinating observation about the score vs. script of MERRILY as far as (if I have your point right) the lead character's output being represented by one number.

That leads to the question of how else the score could have brought it all together for the audience (most seeing the show just one time in the theatre) given the structure - which for some people would raise the question of whether the structure of the original play ever lent itself readily to a completely satisfying general-audience-pleasing musical, if the lead characters were to be songwriters.

From YESTERDAY

John G

If you listen to the score backwards (Forward in time) you can hear the evolution of the song Good Thing Going, which is the song/music I believe you were referring to. At some point in the story around the time (Forward time) of Franklin Shepard, INC he stops writing music gets into movies

Sondheim uses Good Thing Going thematically in his music in Act 1 which is then used fuller realized in Act 2.

It gets confusing.

If you have iTunes trying putting the score in reverse order and I think you will hear what I am trying to say.

I dreamed that I was working in an office of Frank Loesser Music, and one of my clerks, a pretty blonde, would not stop singing.  Her name was Betty Grable.  I encouraged her attempts to get into the theatre.

I have never listened to Merrily backwards (or forwards), Michael. I'll have to give it a try.

I may go down to the Lincoln Center theatre and pick up the tickets for the film.  It's my last $25 until Thursday, which really pisses me off, but I've made a commitment, and I look forward to seeing Charlotte.

BK, "I Love To Walk In the Rain" is one of my all-time faves!  I once long ago arranged it for a tiny Daisy Egan and the New York City Gay Men's Chorus while she was appearing in "The Secret Garden."

I'm planning on going to San Angelo for a few days. I'll probably leave on Christmas Day if my friends in town continue their Christmas Eve party and liquor exchange. And of course, DR Jane will be here around that time. Is the date still Dec. 23?

I saw "Merrily We Roll Along" in the second preview after the leading man was replaced, and it was dreadful.  There were many improvements by the last performance, which I saw, but I do not like the show, and I believe that if it had been by Cole Porter or Kern it would now be a footnote in their careers.  Because the Sondheim Cult cannot let a scrap of his writing go without becoming a holy relic, this dead horse of a show gets flogged over and over.  I enjoyed much of the Encores! version, but I think it's a mess of a show.
