Here's the Eubie blurb.  Pay special attention to the Indiegogo instructions at the bottom.

Kritzerland is proud to present the CD premiere of an Original Broadway Cast Recording:

EUBIE!

Music by Eubie Blake
Lyrics by Noble Sissle, Andy Razaf, F.E. Miller, Jim Europe, and Micki Grant

In 1978 two African-American musicals opened on Broadway within months of each other – the first, Ain’t Misbehavin’, was a tribute to the songs of Fats Waller.  The second, Eubie!, was a tribute to the songs of the great Eubie Blake.

Eubie! was conceived and directed by Julianne Boyd, with choreography by Billy Wilson and Henry LeTang.  Boyd assembled a great cast, which included the Hines brothers, Gregory and Maurice, Alaina Reed, Lynnie Godfrey, Terry Burrell, and other terrific singers and dancers.  The show was nominated for three Tony Awards – Gregory Hines for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical, Billy Wilson and Henry LeTang for Best Choreography, and, most interestingly, for Best Original Score (that probably couldn’t happen these days).

The musical arrangements by musical supervisor Danny Holgate are incredible and musical director Vicki Carter leads what can only be called a totally kick-ass band.  But the star of the show, always front and center, is Eubie Blake and his songs.  His amazing melodies are tuneful and infectious and they’re performed by a stellar cast with incredible voices energy.  It all adds up to a toe-tapping delight from start to finish.  And in a lovely bit of serendipity to the release of this wonderful cast album making its CD debut, a show about the making of Blake’s groundbreaking musical, Shuffle Along, is about to open.

Eubie! was mastered from the original master tapes from the Warner Bros./Rhino vaults and sounds incredible.

Eubie! is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.

CDs will ship by the second week of April, but we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date.  To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

ATTENTION INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTORS:  FOR THIS RELEASE – IF YOU WANT TO OPT-OUT OF RECEIVING IT, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL.  YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE OPTED OUT.  IF YOU DO WISH TO RECEIVE IT, YOU WILL NEED TO SEND US AN E-MAIL OPTING IN – SEND TO kritzerland@gmail.com.  IF YOU ARE NOT AN INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTOR, ORDER AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD.  THANK YOU.

Good morning, all! I watched the first two parts of the MAJOR CRIMES season opener - still more to come - and went to bed.

I has one of those nights in which the knowledge that the alarm would ring at 6:00 kept me anticipating the alarm beginning around 4:30.  I remember bits of several dreams.  the first was back to the haunted house in which I grew up.  My brother and my cousin Jeanne, who worked for a while in the late 1960s for my dad, were moving my dad's office out of the house. My cousin said something like, "when I hear footsteps coming down stairs, I'd like an actual staircase in the room."  I was terrified about being in the house alone.

My last dream was about getting to physical therapy this morning, and it was an exercise in frustration: my metrocard was bent, the 72nd St subway was entirely renovated and different to navigate; I couldn't find my bag, I should have taen the bus.

So, around 8:00, I will head to therapy, then go down to City Center and help Joshie with 1776.

Can only recall the dream that was still going on through my entire waking up process.  It was musical and a bit irritating and repetitive, but not inordinately so.

I also remembered that I had a dream about directing some play set in Elizabethan England.  that was before the metrocard-subway dream.

I am off to therapy.
