I can usually "translate" DR vixmom's iPad posts without much effort, but some of last night's entries still have me scratching my head.           :)

I am hoping that her inhumane working schedule does not continue.

None of the books I've read recently were really good enough to share.

I see that J.K. Rowling is releasing the third book in her detective series - the one written under her nom de plume.

I do have a bit of shopping to do, since I didn't do it yesterday.

TOD:

In addition to MR BK's tomes

Death at SeaWorld - very interesting if difficult

Famous Enough - Diane McBain's autobiography, interesting

William Gillette: America's Sherlock Holmes - another interesting biography

Good morning, all.

An incredible thunderstorm rolled through here at 4:50 AM.  Just incredible.  You can see it just off the coast of Cape Cod now.

TOD:  last week I finished The Negroni about my favorite cocktail (equal parts gin, vermouth and Campari) and Kipling's The Man Who Would Be King. I'm now listening to Turn of the Screw and reading a new novel called The Unfortunates, about the trials and tribulations of the 1%. Also reading occasionally Balzac's A Harlot High and Low, the 1902 Lone Star Cook Book and Nathaniel's Nutmeg, about the spice trade.

Good morning, all!  I had a horrid night: restless, sleepless, stomach problems, to AC or not.  Then, when i'd finally dozed off, the storm landed and a huge thunder clap woke me.  When the alarm rang at 6:00, there was no way in hell I was going to get out of bed.  Around 8:45, I awoke with the feeling Genug ist Genug

I am not happy that I missed ther Columbia trup this morning, but I've decided that I will go to the Lincoln Center library at noon and do some Moross research there.

DR vixmom, why is it that your real estate work is so horribly busy and that goddam Ohio property sits like dogpoop on a sidewalk and does nothing but aggravate?

I know that feeling.  I have ready a couple of Georgette Heyer's books that were fun.

My Ashland library never got the first one in.  I now have it on my Vancouver library wishlist.  I haven't put any eBooks on hold yet as I want to finish up with my Ashland books fist before I change the library on my overdrive aap.

I stopped reading the Anne Perry Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mysteries; after 20 or so mysteries, I stopped caring at about the point where i think she did, too. Still, I liked most of the 20+ I'd read very much.

I've been on these recently, all very good:
Hugh McDonald's new biography of Georges Bizet
Nigel Simeone's new bio of Sir Charles Mackerras
Jean Pierre Aumont's memoirs
John Lahr's biography of Tennessee Williams

Sitting at one of the Cove marshes this morning was an uncommon sight this far north, a Great Egret.
