I quickly read the posts for the last few days.  If I missed commenting on important news please email me.

CharlesPogue have you been busy today with a new family member?

Panni good luck getting with the house you applied for.  I hope you get a chance to visit your cousin Jano.

Jennifer-great news about the neighbor, unless the service continues the practice of sending the snow your way.  ;)
I guess I will have to begin watching WEST WING again.  Better yet, please let me know when she is on and I will watch that episode.

Ann congratulations on your new part time job.  :D It sounds very rewarding.

Good job vibes to Jed!!

The postcard was a series of small shots of l'Auberge de Castel-Merle in Perigord.

Francois, close your eyes-full report on its way. ;D

Tuesday:

I arrived at the Wellington in the late afternoon only to find, as in Bethesda, they had central heat and it wasn’t turned on.  Feeling sorry for me as I was very cold, not only did I get 4 extra blankets but I was upgraded to a suite.  The same sitting room elmore, Penny and I enjoyed a nice visit after our Wednesday night dinner.

After checking into my room I took my first subway ride to my nieces 4th floor apartment in the West Village area before going to a Thai restaurant.  Since it was on the way back to their place, we stopped at Magnolias and picked up dessert.  Jose did you mention the banana pudding?  I liked the devils food cupcake with the cream cheese frosting.

Wednesday:

I met my good friend from Pennsylvania and her son at the Port Authority.  I forgot the name of the unusual deli near the Gershwin Theater we ate lunch at.  DiT, if I recall correctly you suggested it to me.  I’m sorry if I’m wrong about that.  I had so many wonderful suggestions I’m not sure whose it was.  We did have very good blintzes.

Following lunch we walked around a bit and I purchased a scarf to keep me warm before heading over to the beautiful Gershwin where we settled into our very comfortable 6th row center seats.  WICKED may have been long but we never noticed.  WOW!  The show was absolutely fantastic.  I may have been the first one up for a standing ovation, not easy feat since I pulled something in my hip while moving my suitcase on the train.

Wednesday night:

Following WICKED I parted with my friends and rushed over to the BARRYMORE full of anticipation to meet elmore, Ben and Noel.  And of course to see Penny again, who went the wrong way on the subway making her a wee bit late.  She arrived just after elmore said Penny wouldn’t get lost-but I knew better. ;D

I am very sorry Ben and Noel couldn’t have joined us at my hotel.  Noel was the first to leave so we could talk about him-how nice and sweet he is.  Penny & I agree with elmore, Noel is really cute and his avatar doesn’t do him justice.  Then we noticed he quietly left extra money on the table, treating us all to drinks.  Noel, a belated thank you and it was a delight meeting you.  I look forward to next time, hopefully with Joy.

It was just as delightful meeting Ben who also remembered to bring photos of Anthony’s doll house which Penny and I spent a good amount of time admiring.  He also did a great job of arranging the evening for us, making it a very special night.

I hope to post the photos my Monday.  I haven’t a clue how they turned out.

Welcome back, Jane!

Thanks, and not yet.  ;D

Thursday and elmore:

Honestly I had to read elmore’s post about our day to know where I was.  ;D We did so much and I ran him ragged.  He was my personal tour guide and what a grand day I had.  The weather was as perfect as the company and we had a super fun time.  I can now picture elmore in his home as well as his apartment.  He treated me to a delicious lunch and when the day was done insisted on escorting me back to my hotel.  It was hard to say goodbye. :(

Thank you Bruce.  It's good to be back.  After Bethesda I didn't have access to a computer-not that I had a free moment from all the fun I was having.

As for musicals with original casts on DVD:

Gypsy
Anyone Can Whistle
Cabaret
Company
Follies

These are definitely on my top "quite-a-few" list (I refuse to limit myself to only five) of musicals that I'd love to have on DVD, and I'd include Candide with Barbara Cook.  I would practically kill for the entire Kennedy Center set of Sondheim shows including the Japanese Pacific Overtures...and the original Anyone Can Whistle and Merrily We Roll Along just to have them! ;D

As for movies:

"Flower Drum Song" is the only movie that I can think of off the top of my head that I'd really want that isn't already on DVD.

And a very merry (or marry or Mary) Welcome Back D.R. Jane!

DR Jane welcome back!

Glad you liked WICKED.  Who were the leads when you saw it?

I know West Wing starts in 2 weeks (oct 20th). Not sure when Kristin will be on.  I'll post it if I hear anything.  It says she will be having a "major recurring role".  So I"m guessing once she starts that she will be on a lot.  But I'm also guessing that she probably can't be in the first few episodes (if they are just announcing her casting now).
