She texted me the address, so I know I sent it there, but from what I'm hearing from the postal carrier, it sounds like it's not where she lives.  That confuses me even more

So far I've called and left her a message and texted twice, I'm tempted to post on her facebook that his present has been sitting at the address she gave me for a week.....please go get it.   I'll give her until tonight to get back to me

I'm sure she never expected me to call the post office there to ask about it

I don't like New Year's Eve.

When I was a kid I was on a ocean liner with my older sister on my way to Athens to meet our parents when a tidal wave swamped the ship and we turned over. Only six of us survived. What I learned from this don't be an extra or bit player in life you have a better chance of living.

OMG, how did you survive?  And your sister?  I don't remember you ever mentioning this terrible experience.

Then I found out we'd won something called The Gold Bonus Disc Award from The Second Disc website (a terrific website, by the way) for our soundtrack release of It's a Wonderful Life.  I had no idea they even gave awards so I went back and looked at previous years and what did I find?  In 2013 we won the award for cast album reissue, A Time for Singing.  In 2012 we won the same award for the Follies remix and reissue.  And in 2011, the first year the awards were given, we won in both cast album AND soundtrack categories for Gone With the Wind and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Who knew???  http://theseconddisc.com/2014/12/30/the-year-in-reissues-the-2014-gold-bonus-disc-awards/

This is funny, belated and current congratulations!

I love to play pinochle. Never have much time for it, though.

Am off to usher a concert featuring some soprano named Patricia Raclette -- she sounds like a cheese dish. Then there's a party in the lobby until midnight or so. Should be a long one.

Didn't I see this in a movie with Shelly Winters and a theme song sung by Maureen McGovern?

In other news, my brother in law helped my mom clean out her refrigerators, freezer and some of her cupboards.  They had 11 garbage bags full of expired stuff. Mom still doesn't believe that an expiration date means much, but at least it's done.  That's a huge deal.  I was going to drive up to help her  Mom is so funny, my brother in law is about the only person she will let help her clean things out.   This is a big start toward easing my concerns

I left City center around 1:30, caught a bus, got to market, and my 2014 errands are accomplished.  i'm not leaving the apartment until 2015.

This morning, I finally saw the young lady above me. We talked about the dog. She was sympathetic, but I honestly doubt she'll do anything about it.

I'm glad you were able to talk to her.  Too bad she did offer options she is working on to improve the situation.

Have you met the dog?  Craig got very lucky with a neighbor who made friends with Yogi and takes him into his place if Yogi howls, such as during a storm.  It is easier now that Craig is done with school.  Also Yogi settled down once he became used to his new home.  Vibes the upstairs dog does the same!!!

She's a really big opera star: lesbian, sings a lot at the Met, we have several friends in common. I saw her, I think, in theMet premiere of AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY.

I will be staying home tonight, nursing this cold which finally made it down to my chest.  Staying home is what I wanted to do, anyway.  But I've been doing a lot of snoozing, so can't say if I'll be awake for much of the festivities.

So according to the post office in the town where my grand nephew lives, the package was delivered to the address his mom gave me over a week ago and as of this morning it's still sitting on the porch of that address.   So I called and texted his mom, no response.  I texted my nephew, no response.  I may have to call the mail carrier back on Friday and ask her to return it.  She said I should call and tell them what I want them to do.  This makes no sense to me at all

Very strange!   I hope you get it sorted out.

I had a beautiful hike on my old trails today.  My new shoes worked well on the snow & icy bits, though we stayed away from the more dangerous trails and I was very cautious.

After the hike we went to one of the hikers home for a chili/cornbread gathering and toasted the NY with champagne.  It was very nice.  My new buttermilk cornbread recipe was a bit hit.

Keith and I didn't care for the vegetarian chili.  It was more like a tasteless soup, but healthy.

Keith passed on the hike but met me at the party. :)
