I, for one, am quite happy that it rained today . I had a nice turn of volunteers to put together the mission kits for tomorrow's Social Ministry trip to NYC

These are the kits - they have a toothpaste, a toothbrush and case, soap and washcloth, deodorant stick, socks, comb, shampoo, and baseball cap in one  gallon size ziplock bag and sandwiches, cookies, and candy  in a another.  Then both bags are put in a plastic carrier bag.

Here are the 200 bags at the altar, we will load them into the van after the first service and head into the city

Had a really good stumble-through - one song was rough in terms of lyrics, but the two singers involved know what work they have to do to get it down pat and I know they will.  Then had some food at Stanley's.  I guess since I hadn't eaten in twenty-four hours my stomach was not prepared to ingest that much food - I had a small Caesar and baked penne pasta with no meat - not really that much food but I thought I was going to die I was so full.  However, it never occurred to me to stop eating.

I'm watching a motion picture I've never seen before and I have to say it's really good - The Dogs of War.  Won't finish it until Monday, but the first forty minutes have me hooked.

I hate ads popping up - certain websites (not this one obviously) have that crap built in and I never go to those sites.

that's a great service your church does, Vixmom. My church makes up those bags monthly, and we take as many as we need to keep in the car, so whenever we see anyone in need, we just hand then out.

I no longer have pop ups -- I've used this website for years: https://adblockplus.org/

It's compatible with all browsers: IE, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.

Will DR George buy the CD or just look at the photos?

I have the CD, but there aren't any pictures in the booklet. :(

We just got our first good review from Max Preeo on the Cast recording List:
Tuesday, October 7, New World Records releases the splendid new two-CD
studio recording of Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach's ROBERTA, reconstructed by
Larry Moore, providing a revelation of how its creators integrated the music
and book.  It is presented as a "radio play," with dialogue (lengthier
sections are indexed so they can be skipped) that gives a complete
understanding of how the show worked on its opening night in 1933.  Of
course all the now-familiar songs, such as "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,"
"You're Devastating," "Let's Begin," "I'll Be Hard to Handle," "Something
Had to Happen" and more are here, as well as previously unrecorded reprises,
"Hot Spot" and "Clemintina," dance music and underscore.  An appendix has
the cut "Armful of Trouble" and "I Won't Dance" and "Lovely to Look At," as
sung in the 1935 film version, with a lovely uninterrupted "Smoke Gets in
Your Eyes."  Everything is well sung/performed by a cast including Annalene
Beechey, Patrick Cummings, Jason Graae, Kim Criswell,  and Diana Montague,
with Rob Berman lading the Orchestra of Ireland through Robert Russell
Bennett's orchestrations (painstakingly reconstructed/reorchestrated by
Larry, fully detailed in the set's booklet).

Congrats, Larry!!

Actually, I didn't do too much.  At first, I was just following along with the script while the stage manager and the lighting/sound designer and the director talked through everything, but after about 15 pages, I realized that my time could be better spent trying to figure out the sound board program.  Fortunately, I was able to.

For the most part, it was pretty easy.  The cues will mainly just bring up the sound and then fade the sound, and we probably won't have more than a dozen cues.

However, we won't put the actual sounds in the correct order until tomorrow.  Today, we just made sure that it all worked.
