Well, you've read the notes, the notes had substance and abuse, and now it is time for you to post until the abused cows come home.

Good morning, all! Even though the company that deducted the  $480+ on my debit card yesterday told me they were issuing credit, it did not land in my bank account today.  As a consequence, I will go over to my bank this morning, and file a complaint.

This affects my day and my intended schedule, I regret to say, and it really really really burns my ass. I'm wasting my time chasing my tail, thanks to these scumbags, and I am unable to see beyond it at this point.

Good morning, all.

I am here to announce that while at Costco yesterday, I saw a "deal" on a package of two pillows of the memory foam variety for ten bucks, and I bought them.  My head and neck LOVED them, and while it may be purely coincidental, even my back felt better this morning.  So, we'll see.  We shall see.

I love OUT OF THE PAST.

I think it's the greatest of all film noir.

Monday through Wednesday are supposed to be hotter again here, so I wonder if we're going to get some of DR Ginny's humidity.

Long day ahead. Volunteer training for the new theater in town, which will take a few hours. Then I'm taking friends out for their 61st anniversary tonight. We'd had lunch earlier this week, as part of the local Restaurant Week and they want to head out to a different place for dinner. It should be fun.

And the claim has been filed. I think what irritates me the most is the bank's decision yesterday to go ahead and allow the pending charges to go through. Rather than protect me and the limited funds in the account, the bank, after all of my communication between 8:00 amd 11:00am yesterday and canceling my debit card, still allowed two large fraudulent charges to be posted to my account this morning. Also, why did the damned bank, after seeing I was $200 overdrawn on one charge permit a second to go through without contacting me to verify this was a charge I'd authorized?

It seems to me they should have denied the charges and let the vendor, who clearly will ship these orders to some other address than mine, fight the addressee for the money owed them. It's all too fucked up when it should be simpler. I hate that I am the one caught trying to defend myself with little help from the bank. I have to rethink my banking options after this mess.lso, why did the damned bank, after seeing I was $200 overdrawn on one charge permit a second to go through without contacting me or verifying this was a real charge from me?

It's infuriating.  I found out several years ago, when I simply THOUGHT I'd lost my wallet, that debit cards are not protected the same way credit cards are.  I, too, sat in front of a bank person (and this was after the crisis had passed) and was amazed at what they're not equipped to do, and -- by law -- are not even required to do in the way of consumer protection coming first and speedily.  Credit cards, you just give them a call (and they're very good at catching fraud themselves these days) and they take care of it.  Not so with debit cards which, though used in the same way, are treated completely differently.  We can probably thank our Lawgivers for this.

Actors Federal Credit Union

might be something to look into. You don't have to be an actor, you just have to be in the performing arts, including music.

Unfortunately, they are not at all convienent, location-wise. The home branch is in the Actors Equity Building

Main Office — New York City

165 West 46th Street, 14th floor
New York, NY  10036
Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
New Accounts:    9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

and they have another branch at the Musicians Union

Musicians Local 802 Branch Office
New York City

322 West 48th Street, 4th floor
New York, NY 10036
Monday – Friday
9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
New Accounts:    10:30 AM – 4:30 PM

We have had accounts with AFCU for years and they are friendly, helpful and small enough to care about their customers. If AFCU doesn't work, perhaps some other credit union in your neighborhood might be a good choice.

I hope you get this all sorted out. But it makes no sense that they would allow charges to go through after you already alerted them that there was a problem.  They definitely should have protected you.
