Well, I must be off.  Tonight is our monthly (although a week late) board meeting for Theater Artists Olympia.  We're having another fund-raiser next month, so there will be some discussion about that...among other things. :)

Be back later!

So, Callie has been sneezing since Friday.  It got really bad last night.  She's still eating and drinking water and there isn't much discharge....so this morning I took her to the vet just to be sure.  She thinks it's herpes.  Apparently cats don't get cold sores, they sneeze.  Who knew?

Hmmm, what i'm reading about it online seems to say that there should be fever and other symptoms.  There aren't.  Anyway, as long as she doesn't get worse and keeps eating and drinking water, she should be fine

One thing on Castrecl that I was directed to recently was the Berkshire Record Outlet, which sells classical music, jazz and the like at deeply discounted prices. Got my first order today at it included the TV version of Dearest Enemy, Dolores Gray on the Bell Telephone Hour with that great number, Are You Ready, Gyp Watson from Destry.

Now, if I only had time to watch them.

Great tip on Berkshire Record Outlet, thanks DR John G!

Pine Bros, the cough drops I have always preferred disappeared a number of years ago.  Recently I went to the drug store and saw them for sale.  They are under new ownership, have been repackaged and are back in the States.  They have been around since 1870.  The downside is I am eating them like candy.  They are chewy like large Jujubes.

Recently, I've seen TV ads for Pine Bros. by Martha Stewart.  Maybe she owns the company now?  It's a good thing.

Lots of little things to do today.

How was that pie, Matthew?

The pie had good taste, but it was quite runny.  But it still tasted good

I combine my two church choirs for rehearsals on Tuesday night.  Each choir gets 45 minutes alone and then 30 minutes all together.  Today - 1 - count them - 1 person showed up for one of the choirs.  All the rest "called in" sick, or whatever.  And I was accused of being grumpy by my best friend who WAS grumpy.  How is it that I have to deal with grumpy people, but people get on my case if I'm grumpy??   How exactly does that work?

Our choir director is having the same problem lately. Last week, seven of the 12 of us couldn't make it to bells (I let him know in advance). We were to start a new piece. I forgot to ask him Sunday if he canceled or held rehearsal.

I got a small bit of mac-and-cheese, a couple of drumettes (something new for Gelson's) and some Super Chinese Slaw.  Watched more of The Eddy Duchin Story, and am now just relaxing.

Good morning, all!  I slept well, with one long dream about the show MATILDA, which I have no urge to see and God alone knows why I dreamed about that! Earlier, I had an unsettling nightmare; i remember waking around 1:30, alarmed and happy to be awake.

Today, I will head down to Toyland around 9:30 or so, I have a rehearsal with ur leading man, the actress playing his bitch fiancee, and the actor playing the other man.  We should be finished around 3:00, and I will head back uptown.

I got this email yesterday from the incinnati Men's Chorus conductor about the choral piece I arranged:
The arrangement sounds FABULOUS!!!  The guys just love singing it and the nicest thing is that the voicing is smooth and well-written.  You would be amazed and saddened by the lack of quality writing for men's chorus lately; few people know how to write well with good voice-leading and interesting yet not-too-complicated harmonies.  We just read it last week and, after working through all three sections, the guys wanted to sing it through AGAIN!

I guess they're happy. I have to get some work on the orchestration this morning. I'd like to post it by Friday.

More coffee!

Great news, DR elmore!

When I was still in rehearsals for IT;S A WONDERFUL LIFE, I decided I wanted my hair slicked back, so I picked up some Brylcreem.  I tried it for the first dress rehearsal, and it worked okay, but it was a little too greasy for me.  When I got up the next morning, the Brylcreem had turned my hair bright yellow.  Maybe they should post a warning for people with silver hair.

SUPER VIBES FOR DR DAN!!!

When will you know if you are returning to work?

I was perusing the University of Arizona's employment opportunities and found a listing posted by the woman who is in charge of benefits (and who knows all about my illness and leave).  The listing ends on February 28, so I decided yesterday that I would update and spruce up my resume and letter of interest.  By midnight last night, I was ready to upload to the job posting and I'm guessing that sometime by the end of this month I will be contacted.  From what I know of HR practices, if I am selected for an interview, that would occur at the beginning of March.  There are 2 other listings for which I may apply.  However, now that I am back in the mix, even if this particular job posting should not pan out, my resume and information is current on the HR website, and 99% of the HR people know me or know of me, so there may be other opportunities I don't know about at this time.

However, if BK should require my services, I would gladly work for him and relocate to Cal.  I'm always ready for new careers and learning new things.  I am at the point now that I am very happy to be here because last year at this time, my future looked pretty dim.

Job vibes for you, Dan M.

Saw the new Texas Monthly at the store tonight. First byline in it. The store is little more than a series of captions on noodle soups across the state and I share it with four other people. But it's still a thrill.

Congrats, John!

I'm watching "Here Comes Mr. Jordan."  I've never seen this movie, only the remake with Warren Beatty.

I'm more than halfway through it.  I like it, but I really like the remake much better.
