Last night of freedom for awhile. Got the details today of what I have to do for my last class. I have to write a paper that is between 60 and 100 pages in addition to the project, which is the libretto. I just get tired thinking about it.

Another long day.  But I'm home now and trying to get my head in the right place to write a few pages, but the fact is I wrote almost six before I left.  Love that.  I would like to do two more, because I know that tomorrow may be a two page day only and those won't be until late at night.

Sitzprobe was irritating, as they sometimes are - I'm concerned about two of our musicians but hopefully they'll be on their game tomorrow.  I will say that the orchestration for this show is terrible - they really should have had Michael Gibson do it - he understands how to orchestrate for seven people.

Had lunch, then a little rehearsal for our put in.  Ran all her solo and duet stuff, got her on track in terms of interpretation, and she'll be fine now.  We also had to make some adjustments in the spike marks due to the slightly different feel of the room - unfortunately two of our cast members, despite knowing about this evening's rehearsal for over a month, couldn't be with us.  So, they'll find out just before show time what those adjustments are.

The Princess Cruises ship, Pacific Princess, otherwise known to many as The Love Boat, is currently being dismantled at a shipyard in Turkey. It will not be making another run.      :-\

Sad.  It looks so small compared to what we were on.  And the staff was nowhere as friendly as on THE LOVEBOAT, but then they never seemed to work on those cruises.  We enjoyed watching episodes of the show while we were on the cruise.

That photo was of the original Pacific Princess.  It was replaced by one of the megaships.  We went on one of the last of the original fleet.  I don't remember the real name, but we called it The Love Tug!

There was mention of a new member whom I didn't welcome at the time.  So far he (?) hasn't joined us.  We used to have something at the top telling us when we had a new member.

I apologize for not remembering your name but whoever you are, please stop in and say hello. :)

Tonight, I have to get to go to a production of Hairspray at a local high school.  I know most of the kids, so I'm pretty much obligated to go, but I really don't want to.  I was suppose to play in the pit, but then I wasn't needed (because of students, of course, which is fine) but I'm pretty much over this show.  I hear it's pretty good, so that's a relief and I'm sure the students love what they are doing.  Just pretty much done with it!

That's exactly what I'm doing next -- playing in the pit for a high school HAIRSPRAY, which I've just begun looking at.  I just received the P/C plus Keyboard 2 & 3 books, and I'm supposed to determine how important one or the other is, as they probably won't have the funds to hire me and TWO others, but probably ONE other.  Oy!

A couple of great photos posted by DR Elmore back there.

This is what we need here, every day.  Photographic evidence.  Can't have too much of that.  No sir.

Really looking forward to LITTLE ME.  Although I included it on the TOD, I didn't get to listening to it today.  But I will this weekend.

If those are the same orchestra parts our little band had, they are VERY difficult to read and interpret.  I still can't believe how foreign (like, Greek) that P/C score looked to me when I took it out last week.

Hi Fellow DRs and BKudos to Our One and Only Original BK, this is Dan M and I'm taking the plunge by making my very first post HOORAY!
(I've never posted before, anywhere)
I've not tried to be elusive, but I've had some computer problems.
I'm very happy to be a member of this community and look forward to getting to know everyone!  I hope that you will get to know me too.  Just to start things off, I am a longtime New Yorker transplanted in the Tucson desert since 2009 and have been an employee at the University of Arizona, but had to take a medical leave in 2012 due to a rare lymphoma (Burkitt's).  After receiving chemotherapy for the past year, I am now successfully in remission and will try to return to work at the university.

I have been a movie (and popular culture) lover since childhood, with a very enduring love of soundtracks, music library pieces and just about every kind of music.  My range is expansive and eclectic, from the classical to the kitschy.  Even kitschy can be well done after all.

Right now, I'm listening to Elvis Costello, T-Bone Burnett's "Proof Through The Night" on Rhino Handmade, various Firesign Theatre CDs, and Mahler and Beethoven.  If it's on a disc, I like to collect it.  If it's a book, I want to add it to my shelf.  While I was hospitalized from January through May of last year, my then apartment was burglarized and I lost my entire DVD and blu ray collection in addition to several CDs.  I recently replaced the Kritzerland "Casino Royale" that was stolen and have slowly tried to recoup some other losses.  I am recovering from that as well as gaining my health back.  As my friends tell me, I am lucky to be here now and getting ready to celebrate another birthday later in February (25th).

I apologize for the length of my post, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  As the SNL character used to say, "Get to know me!" and I hope that you all will as I would like to know you.  (Not necessarily in the biblical sense, of course.)

Thanks for reading.  I'm extremely happy to be here!

I think I just got up to eight pages - and in the morning I'll write the final two paragraphs of the chapter I'm finishing and then I'll be all ready to begin the climax of the book.

I'm very sorry about your burglary.  A few years ago, I had three boxes of my musical cast recordings (probably over 300 CDs) stolen out of my garage, along with at least a couple of boxes of DVDs. :( I've replaced a lot, but not everything.  Also, I don't know what all was stolen.  That doesn't help.
