If I knew this, I'd forgotten it until an email from The University of Michigan Alumni Association reminded me:  Margo Martindale was a year behind me there and I saw her in at least 2 musicals - FUNNY GIRL as Mrs. Brice (1972) and WEST SIDE STORY as Bessie Shawn (1973).  I think her current series on CBS is a tremendous waste of her talent.  Here's the article:

Margo Martindale

I think of anyone involved with the show, THE GOLDBERGS, is a waste of their talents on either side of the TV screen.  However, suddenly I read it is the hit of the new season.

This season's "new comedies" aren't funny.

They are painful, yes.  But funny, no.

"Sean Save the World"....oof!
The Michelle Gellar-Robin Williams show -- oof!

And so on.

We didn't last more than a few minutes with this.

Why we stuck with Michael J. Fox's show as long as we did I have no idea.

We kind of liked the first episode, maybe the second, but it is also off our list now.

I haven't seen "Sean Save the World"

This morning I had to go to Toys R Us to pick up some items on hold.  Since it is next to Barnes and Noble I took my Nook HD along with the battery charger that doesn't connect very well.  The in-store charger worked just fine, however, they aren't permitted to replace chargers.  I just got off the phone with Nook and should have a new one before the end of the week.

Mom met our gastroenterologist today and is scheduled for an endoscopy on Thursday.  She went with me on a library errand, then we shopped for her at Dorothy Lamour Lane Market.  Most of the food she bought is soft.

My time is still an hour off, but it's nothing to do with our host and everything to do with the software - so they continue to work on it.

Everything else is fine.  And I think the time thing is only happening on the West Coast.

DR Ginny I have had two endoscopies.   The first one I was semi awake and remember being told to swallow.  It wasn't too bad and I don't remember pain after.

The second one I was totally out but boy did my throat hurt afterwards, representative of the problems that led me to repeating the procedure.  The doctor suggested children's tylenol for pain.  I should have swallowed tylenol capsules instead-boy were those yucky.

I hope the appointment is early enough that you can make sure your mother is ok before leaving her alone.

Do you plan to stay with your mother for

DR Jane, our endoscopy center requires that someone stay in in the waiting room throughout the procedure - no dropping off and picking up.  Before I leave her at home I will notify the nurses in the clinic that's just one floor below her apartment.

How often will they check on her?

Oh, and I didn't expect you to leave her at the hospital.  I am only thinking of recovery time after she returns home.

This evening, after having it on the shelf for what, a couple of years? -- I watched the 1977 Japanese film House.  Wow!  I just hadn't gotten into the mood to sit through it all to try it before, and I'm glad I've finally done it.  Weird, and lots of fun.  There's a very informative interview with the director (Obayashi) included on the Criterion disc, along with an earlier film Emotion which I'll watch another day.

Here's another thing that's weird.  There are all kinds of things that various elements of the film can remind you of, but there was one that kept bugging me until I finally identified it.  Its particular tone -- being constructed as though through the eyes of kids -- made me think of Junior High School!  And as strange as this one is, I mean that in a totally fine way.

Good evening. I was out the door before dawn again. The day was a bust, however, as the directions to the wildlife place were wrong and there were no signs anywhere.

Wow.  I'm just wondering how there can possibly be a wildlife jernt that DR Laura wouldn't have already known about, and be able to get there blindfolded.  :)

When I was at Barnes and Noble today the guy helping me said there is now a Kindle app and downloaded it for me.  I haven't attempted to use it yet.

Hello, everyone.

Well, I was trying to catch up on the posts yesterday. I guess I chose a bad day to do that! I'm not halfway caught up, but haven't read today's yet.
