A couple nights ago I decided to look for my college roommate from Costa Rica on Facebook and found her!  We chatted on FB and shared photos from 1980-81 and some from today.  It's really been fun.

I had a lot of good memories of Maritza and very fondly remembered my trip to Costa Rica that year, but I forgot how much we laughed.  We laughed and laughed and laughed.  What a fabulous thing to remember

I think that's been what I like most about Facebook is connecting with people who had sort of dropped out of my life with all the moves I've made. But then again, HHW has done that while introducing me to some wonderful new people.

TOD:

I don't have any fascination with war at all, but studying WWl and WWll in school was interesting.

Movies about WWlll are rather fascinating, however. But hopefully it is not something I will ever have to live through.

At your age, Mike, I would sincerely doubt it.

Did take Beverly Glen at four-fifteen and while it was a bit more crowded it was pretty good.

Well, the Rufus Wainwright concert was very good.  What I didn't know was that his half-sister, Lucy Wainwright Roche, was his opening act!  She has a breathy voice, and at first I wasn't sure, but by the end of her set, she won me over.  And she's funny!  She didn't sing humorous songs, but when she chatted in between the songs, she really has a sense of humor!

The only problem with Rufus' set is that the volume was a couple of notches too loud (for me).  And he mumble-sings.  He didn't enunciate as well as I would think a live performer should.  He's got a great voice, though, and I really enjoyed his songs.

One very touching moment was when he and his sister sang Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and from where I was standing in the back of the theater, I saw a guy who was sitting on the aisle get up, the woman with him also stood up, but then he motioned for her to stay there.  He got down on one knee and proposed to her right there!  It was so sweet!  I could see her nod her head "yes"!

After the song was over, someone from the audience yelled that there was just an engagement.  Rufus and his sister Lucy couldn't see it from the stage.  As it was happening, the house manager walked in and I pointed them out and he took a picture.
