Very nice, DR JRand!  As for the black or stainless steel appliances - either one will show EVERY spot...

Nice review DR CHAS SMITH.

I have to say that I agree with DR DRUXY RE: Mr Tommy Steele.

I really hate his performances in HALF A SIXPENCE, FINIAN'S RAINBOW, and THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE....and on the recordings of all three films as well....

Doug R, those reunion "lunches" sound like the kind of "lunches" they have on MAD MEN.

DR ChasSmith. I've never seen MAD MEN (shock, horror!) but if their lunches end with everyone collapsed drunk on the floor then there might be some slight resemblance   ;D

Urgent Communique from the year 2113:

The National Congress of University-level Departments of Entymology has declared that another insect species has become extinct.  Coleoptera, more commonly referred to as the May beetle or June bug, has been on the endangered list the past 70 years.

"The demise of this species", according to Dr. Ludovico Taylor of the University of Texas, "is primarily due to two factors:  First, there is the irrefutable impact of the change in the weather patterns that have afflicted many plants, insects and animals throughout the world.

"Second, there is the matter of human termination of the lifespan of these insects.  June bugs, or May beetles, were always inclined toward omnisocial behavior.  In other words, they did not avoid other life forms, probably because they had no natural predators to speak of except for man."

"Many children, throughout history, have thrilled to tying string or pieces of thread to the legs of June bugs.  The bugs would fly around and around.  Inevitably, they would escape by exerting enough resistance to tearing off the leg to which the string was attached.  This was never a detriment to their reproductive abilities.  However, as society became more insular, with controlled living environment constantly shutting out nature, any June bugs entering homes were more than likely destroyed.

"Since the advent of time travel, entymologists have been studying the declining populations of coleoptera to determine if there was a major event in which the decline began its downward spiral.

"One such event occured during the morning hours of May 20, 2013, in Studio City, California.  A particularly vibrant mating pair had entered a home through a vent from outside the home.  During that night, one of the pair was killed by an irritated occupant of the home who, apparently, was unable to sleep.

"While it has not been established whether altering events in the past should be permitted, the National Congress is considering assembling a team to revisit May 20, 2013, in Studio City to prevent the June bugs (aka "May beetles") from entering the home.  If they fail, there may be a failsafe initiated to avoid the killing of one of the mating pair."

I dread June because I get invaded by large bright green mosquitoes. They buzz about keeping me awake and are devilshly difficult to swat. After June they disappear until October when they invade again. My relatives refuse to visit me during those two months! I think it's something to do with the fact that where I live used to be swamp land.

Sorry for leaving you hanging. It went south of therel.  When I heard there was a warning I called mom.  She said she had talked to my brother in law and Joe had just arrived at their house and they were going to seek shelter.  They have a tornado room built into their basement so as long as they know and have time to get there, they will always be ok

Thanks.  I'm glad to know they were comfortable in the basement.  I hope Joe isn't watching too much news & re-traumatizing himself.

DR Jane when I'm curious about what's up with weather in a town, I usually do a Google search for a tv station for that town and then click on weather.  If there's anything going on they will have it.

I've done that with papers & I did google the town & tornado.  I figured not finding anything was good news.  Next time I will look for local tv stations.

Oklahoma news is so sad....

We got the tail end of the winds very early this morning......no power from 3:15 a.m. until nearly 8 a.m......but NOTHING to complain about!

Not too long of a power outage unless you are a person who needs coffee first thing in the morning ;)

TOD - The SW Ohio favorite is Esther Price.

For me, it's any company that makes dark chocolate raisin clusters.  DR Elmore can tell you they're not easy to find.  Not that they're on my diet any more, anyway...

I never met a decent box of chocolates I didn't like.  See's, Whitman, you name it.

But ..... dark chocolate raisin clusters???   I must have those!

I'm not a Whitman's fan.

I like the red with the black.   Both black & stainless are a pain to keep clean looking.  Do they still make carbon or coated stainless?

I refused to even consider a stainless steel sink when I redid my counters.

When I finally get new appliances, I expect I will go with the stainless finish, since I have a small kitchen and black would make it too dark. I want to get a fridge and dishwasher at the same time by the same manufacturer so the finishes will match, since they are side-by-side.

But by then, something else will be in style. Or actually, something else will be in style two months after I buy the stainless.

DR TCB, I earlier made a comment about this, and I realize I interpreted it as her saying you'd never walk. I apologize, but surely there are other therapists and other possibilities to increase your mobility?

Did anybody else watch the finale of Dancing With The Stars?

Wow. Kellie and Derek's freestyle was one of the best I've ever seen.

They were the class act of the evening.  I even thought they were the best in the cha-cha relay, but the disadvantage of going first seems to have played against them.

I think Zendaya has lost her edge.  Kellie continues to impress.

The other freestyles suffered from"clutter"...too much going on, too many people on stage.  I know it's hard to downgrade something that is perfectly presented, but Val and Zendaya's freestyle was nowhere NEAR the quality of Derek and Kelli's....yet, they got the same score (even if Len did say he wished he could give them an 11).

DR Ron Pulliam do you think that Kellie and Derek will win, with Zendaya 2nd, Aly 3rd and Jacoby 4th?

I can't really see it playing out any other way.

I have to imagine that Derek is more popular than Val. And I have to imagine that Kellie is more popular than Zendaya. Add to that the fact that Kellie's freestyle was so amazingly good and I have a good feeling about her winning.

I think that Zendaya is super talented. But last night just showed what a brilliant choreographer and dancer Derek is. Nobody can compare to his level.
