Speaking of the word of the day VERBIAGE, this came in an email today.  i believe it is not objectionable:
especially in light of that commercial for that company for K-mart that says "I shipped my pants"

HERE'S THE EMAIL I GOT:

Manure... An interesting fact
 
Manure : In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be
transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial
fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when
wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier,
but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is
methane gas of course. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles
you can see what could (and did) happen.
Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came
below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!


Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined
just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the
instruction ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the
sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water
that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start
the production of methane.


Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' , (Stow High In Transit) which has
come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.

You probably did not know the true history of this word.

OMG, I LOVE Celebration. It's hardly ever done. I have the cast recording on my mp3 player and my computer at the office. I saw it a million years ago (around 1977) at the University of Minnesota. A small off-campus theatre company did the show.

OMG, I LOVE Celebration. It's hardly ever done. I have the cast recording on my mp3 player and my computer at the office. I saw it a million years ago (around 1977) at the University of Minnesota. A small off-campus theatre company did the show.

I lived in Hashinger Hall at the University of Kansas, it was a creative arts dorm.  We had a theater, practice rooms, dance studio, drafting studio, sewing room, woodshop, etc.  I was a music major at the time.   The first year I lived there, I help reorchestrate Pippin to fit our small orchestra and played a player and Berthe.

Celebration was the second year I lived there and it was a blast.  I loved being Potemkin, but it would have been fun to sing "Somebody"

I lived in the dorm from 79-81 so it was close to the time you saw it.   I had been listening to the album for years, so I was thrilled to be in it

I'm at home and have been here all day!  I took a day of vacation so that I can watch some TV and free up space on my DVR.  As of Sunday night, it was 92% filled! Right now, it's only 64% filled.  With "Reservoir Dogs" having so many performances, I didn't have much time to watch things.

Today, I've watched three episodes of "New Girl," two of "Antiques Roadshow" and two of "Doctor Who."  I think that there was another show before I watched "DW," but now I can't remember.

My favorite thing to collect would be original cast recordings and theater-related recordings, though they are filling every nook and cranny lately. My treasures are the ones that take out something obscure, to me, at least, and discover something new and wonderful on the recording. Lately, that has included "The New Moon," which without realizing it, I have three recordings of.

Cast recordings are my favorite thing to collect, also...whether they're records or CDs.  Nine is the only cassette that I bought (it had bonus materiel not on the LP).  I thought about getting the cassette to The Secret Garden with Barbara Cook, but for some reason, I just never did.  That would be cool if Kritzerland could release the cassette version on CD.

I also collect key chains/key rings.  I have a whole bunch all over the place.

Hi all!   I was so sorry to hear the news about what happened in Boston.  How scary and horrible.  And to hear that it killed an 8 year old!  So sad.

It makes me feel kind of guilty on this day when something so wonderful is going to happen for me!  Today the granite goes in.  I can't wait to take the photos and post them for you all to see the finished kitchen!  This afternoon the plumber will come so I'll have water as well.  A kitchen sink is a good thing. 

I confess I think it is kind of gross to wash dishes in the bathroom.

I will be on the news on Thursday.

Also, last night (actually, this morning at about 2:00 am) before I went to bed, I FINALLY finished my taxes (online) and submitted them.  I received an e-mail saying that my federal return has been accepted!  I can check after Friday to find out when I'll get my money.  In the past, it's taken less than two weeks.  THEN, I'll get my car serviced.
