It's been tough work making Jill Foster's life a living hell for over 40 years.

My cousin is coming in from Scranton to do his comedy act in a new venue tonight.  Should be fun.

Congrats, DR Elmore.  When will we be able to hear that?

One thing I enjoy collecting are old wooden hangers that have advertising on them. In the forties, many hotels had their name printed on their hangers. For some reason, I just love these old things! I like their practical value, as coats and other heavy items need a sturdy hanger, and I also enjoy the nostalgia of that era. Some high-end stores now sell very expensive -- and very handsome -- hangers for men's and women's suits. Lovely, but I'll take the old ones.

I've never heard of anyone else who collects these.

Right.  But I was thinking about the radio interview.

Me too!  I have a total of three (3) with advertising.  But I love the real wooden hangers anyway, and have accumulated about a dozen of the nice old ones.

EDIT:  Mine are from clothing companies or stores in the NYC/NJ area.

Here's something I just remembered:  How about funeral home ephemera?  Especially fans!  If I'm remembering correctly, I have a total of:  one, and I was thrilled to find it.

DR ChasSmith, please to snap a photo(s) of your kitchen kitsch.

I'd have to gather some stuff together, and some is put away at present.  I'll see what I can do.

It should never be put away. Kitsch should be out in the open for all to enjoy.

I haven't either. Will have to keep a look out and see if I see any of these around!

TOD: Collections. I stopped collecting things years ago. I have a small house, and there just isn't really room for anything.

Is it smaller than the 946-square-foot condo in which I house myself and my collection?

No, but there are three people living here, and two of them own a lot of stuff. There's no room for more.

How have we made it all the way to Tuesday afternoon before I got around to wishing everybody a happy National Library Week?

Here is a photo our local library.  The section on the left was an addition to this original Carnegie library.

The photo was prettier before I downsized it to get us out of widescreen.

DR John G, thank you for your feedback on the play.
I will admit prejudice. I am a big August Wilson fan. I've seen five plays in the cycle and read all of them. Poetical writing.

Did you read the review I posted?  If so did you find it similar to the shows you have seen or that this one might be a bit tedious?

Jeanne Cooper won an Emmy for an episode of BEN CASEY that also featured our beloved Susan G.

Thank you for mentioning this.  It would be nice to see the episode.

I haven't been able to keep as much as I'd like over the years, due to many moves and the high cost of real estate. I'm still miffed at my late cousin Marion for tossing many of the family photos. Some would have been worth some money; others had value only to me.

I understand why you are still miffed.

Ron, I'm envious of your MGM lions! I'd never heard of them. I have a film strip of the lion roaring.

After my father died, I carefully went through the house. My parents tended to keep cash and valuables hidden around the house, so I felt compelled to go through EVERYTHING. In a drawer in the den I found the film strip, along with a few other items. It's strange that I'd never seen these things before. I'd been through those drawers many, many times. My parents didn't keep movie memorabilia. It's a mystery why they had it, but I'm glad to have it now.

Nice find.

I have some kitschy bar pieces that date back a few decades. I'll have to sort them out and photograph.

And in honor of Elmore, I've got "Roberta" on tonight. Not the greatest movie, especially with Randolph Scott, but all those great Kern tunes.

I am not sure if all of you know or not, but actress Jeanne Cooper has been in the hospital the last couple of days in very serious condition..from what, I do not know.

I did know this. I watch Y&R and have been following her story. Tracey Bregman (who plays Lauren) and Jeanne's son (Corbin Bernsen sp?) have been posting updates.

I think she had some sort of infection. A few days ago she was in serious condition. But I think now she is doing a bit better and is at least awake.

Her character has been to the hospital in the last few days. She has a brain tumour (HER CHARACTER not her).

I don't mind Randolph Scott, but I do mind the bowdlerizing of man-eater Scharwenka, who turns out not to be Polish but American!
