Good morning, all! I had one nightmare and then a lot of dreams about ROBERTA, which is already a nightmare. I dreamed I was in London meeting Diana Montague to talk about Aunt Minnie's role. She was dressed in yellow and carrying a collection of songs she was going to sing for some concert.

Thank you, some of you, for the vibes and good wishes last night. Since I got our of bed I've sent three emails to singers about ROBERTA, and I hope that I'll hear from them today. I'm also thinking about other baritone possibilities beyond our DR TCB and hoping some more will come to mind. For instance, Edward Watts who played Superman last week is someone I hadn't thought of until just now,

It's another Toyland day. I have a huge proof of the Act One score in front of me, with pages of notes and questions. I still have one vocal arrangement to be redone, the various edits on the score since last year to be put away, and the original scores to be unpacked.

It's morning; that's for certain. So far that's all the enthusiasm I can muster.

Thursday morning greetings!  Getting ready to head to Lima for the Triduum Sacrum - Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday - during which Fr. Richard will conduct services and I will knit, watch basketball, and spend as much time as I can online.  We will be home after the Easter Sunday service.

DR Jane - you asked yesterday how many are in my book group.  There are 34 on the email list, but many of them are what I call phantom readers.  They've either been active members and have moved out of town or they just want to read along with us.  We usually have 8-10 at our meetings, with a core of about 5 who are always there.

I just sent a message to the email list announcing that one of our loyal members will become the new coordinator.  15 minutes after my message went out, she sent a survey to the membership and she's already selected a book for July!

Loved the notes, and I'm half thinking about getting that box set of Demy DVDs -- if only they weren't PAL, with the speedup.  Not that I'm intimately familiar with the music, but that would nag at me.  Anyway, thinking about that and the CD set.

Meanwhile, I've taken out my UMBRELLAS record (just the US one, but at least it's the lovely original issue) and the commercial VHS tape of same, for enjoying sometime in the next couple of days.  And I do need to at least get ROCHEFORT on DVD, since I've never seen that.

I ssw a really lovely production of UMBRELLAS at Two River a few years ago starring Heather Spore, Max von Essen, Maureen Silliman (who co-starred with BK in Last Starfighter at NYMF presentations)  and Patti Perkins

The press annoucement for that production

One response so far - definite interest - on ROBERTA. I also sent an email to Roger Grodsky of the CCM musical theatre program at U of cincinnati, asking who among his grads he would cast as Sir Lancelot. Same voice type.

Greetings from Toyland!

Hope you are having a better day DR ELMORE.

HA!  DR TCB.....I don't know what I was drinking yesterday!  Of course Act One of Hello, Dolly! ends with Before the Parade Passes By and the title tune is in the Second Act.....  Good grief.....

At least now I know that I am of the age that I deserve Social Security.

Enjoyed the notes very much today.

I bought the LP for Young Girls of Rochefort before I knew anything about any of the movies - and I enjoyed it very much.  I have only see Umbrellas on television, but it is most charming.

Anyhow, I'm off for the day.  Quick Stations of the Cross for our school kids as we send them off for Easter Break.  Prep for Holy Thursday Mass, and hopefully a walk in there before the Web show rehearsal in the afternoon.

So did I. I saw "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" when it was first released and it looked fabulous on the big screen. I still have the one disc LP which includes a booklet of the (part) dialogue in French and English. It's a film which would really benefit from a Blu-ray release.
