Well, you've read the notes, the notes looked a lot like Christmas, and now it is time for you to post until the Christmas cows come home.

It will be a quiet lead up to Christmas. We have a party on Monday, dinner with friends on Wednesday and then another party next Saturday, the 22nd. It's in New Jersey and it's Anthony's cousins. It should be fun. After that, on the 23rd we will head to Long Island for a few days. The time in between will be spent relaxing and doing as little as possible.

We do have friends in England who are in New York. We haven't heard from them yet so we don't know when we will get together. Since their cell phones don't work here they will rely on e-mail to contact us. I don't know if the hotel where they are staying has a phone. Lots of hotels have reduced their phone systems to just in-house since so many people have cells. Oh, well, we will hear from them when we hear from them.

Time for breakfast and then I have to go to the greenmarket for a few things.

Good morning, all! I am off to the Post Office to send out these packages.

Nothing much to report at the moment.

That was a nice review for Sandy's album, BK!

I got to the post office at 68th Street around 8:05: 2 automated machines down, only one working.  In between my 15 packages, I let two customers with 1-2 packages jump in. At 8:30 the postal service man showed up and got all three running. I was finished up around 8:45 and here I am.

I'll begin the laundry that I couldn't do yesterday. Much as I was frustrated by the late Fed Ex and all of the upgrading mess, I really like having Mac OS10.6.8!

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I had a delightful Friday evening in Dayton.  We had some shopping (well, returning) errands, one of which was successful and one not.  The successful one involved Land's End and Sears  and the unsuccessful one confirmed my dislike for the Walmart/Sam's Club empire.  Dinner at Red Lobster and then OLIVER by the Human Race Theatre Company.  More about that in another post...

Today I have to grocery shop and get my holiday baking lined up for next week.  Also have to visit the craft show at the senior center, but I'll wait until after 2pm to avoid all the kids who'll be there for brunch with Santa.

OLIVER was very well done, using a very interesting concept.  It's set in a pub where the denizens have just gotten ahold of the latest installment of Dickens' novel and they act out the story.  The only accompaniment is the pub piano, played by the music director who also acts and sings.  Oliver is the only child and the MD and Nancy are the only women in the cast.  It sounds like it shouldn't work, but it does.

Before the performance, the Human Race development director made some introductions and an announcement that after the show 2 of the actors would be collecting for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.  When I put my contribution in Mr. Browlow's hat I told him it was in honor of our New York friend who is such a dedicated volunteer for that organization.

My favorite in last night's cast was Gary Troy, who played Fagin (and others).

I have begun the laundry. My life is too, too exciting.

DR Ginny, I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Around 1971, I was on the costume crew for a summer theatre production of OLIVER! It was a good production. I was also the baby sitter backstage for the boys. It was a nightmare.

DR Elmore, it was a little jarring at the beginning to hear "Food, Glorious Food" in adult voices.

Happy Birthday, ChasSmith!

A bit of trivia: You share your natal day with the great Karen Morrow.
