Well, guess I forgot to log out before our guests started arriving shortly after noon.  My Mom and my sister's family came early to watch the Detroit Lions' traditional Thanksgiving Day game.  Rob and Mary Linda and her parents and grandmothers arrived about 3 and our sister-in-law and DN/G Lauren and her boyfriend arrived just in time to eat about 4:15.  The turkey & stuffing turned out great and the sides that everyone else provided were fabulous - dumplings, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn pudding, hot veggie slaw (carrots, parsnips, zucchini), cranberry relish, and rolls.  There were 4 pies for dessert - pumpkin, cherry, caramel apple, and pecan.  The last of the guests left just before 9 and I've been puttering with dishes and leftovers and now I've quit for the night.

Actually, Ginny, you may have not signed out, but you didn't show as being here all day.

My stuffing (with the sage sausage, etc.) (sorry, DRs Laura et al.!) was a hit.

And so was "THIS CHRISTMAS"!

Do you have leftovers so you don't have to cook for awhile?

I have plenty of turkey left.

This is a healthy left over :)

Yes, except it has more salt than a regular turkey would have had.

Not good.  I don't like too much salt, which the veggies had tonight.  They were fine for Keith-lol

It may not seem very salty to most people.  I never cook with salt anymore, and I never add salt, even if something needs it; so I may notice it more than other people.

It certainly won't keep me from eating the rest of the turkey.

I thought your stuffing sounded very good.

So, we ate our turkey dinner about 3 o'clock.

Sandy made me gluten-free stuffing.

Delicious!

I don't think we will be shopping at Trader Joe's in the near future.  Keith actually dumped the yogurt he purchased because it tasted so bad.  The veggie "turkey" roll with stuffing advertised as tasty was tasteless and the gravy was disgusting.  AND there was as much gravy as there was turkey roll. ;D

I wasn't particularly impressed with Trader Joe's but many friends think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread

Are you sure they didn't sneak you some tofurkey?

Yes it still tasted better than tofurkey ;)

Tofurkey is one reason I am not vegan. Tofurkey and tofu in general.

Thank you, DR Laura. I could not have expressed it better.

DR Jane, I'm sorry about the Trader Joe's mistake of a meal you got stuck with.

My mom never cooked with salt, so I'm pretty sensitive to it. I rarely cook with it, well I use a little, but not too much

After dinner, we watched "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" and really enjoyed the performances. It's a sweet movie.

Tonight I had the best phone call imaginable!! It was from my former cat sitter Sharon!!!!   She's still in the hospital and will have her 9th surgery on Tuesday, but she's getting better.  She's learning to walk again and learning to put her clothes on.  She still has a very long road ahead of her, but said she's determined to get better and to someday return to pet sitting....just no time soon.   I'm very excited to go visit her at the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

What a great story. Another instance that reminds us of how much we all have to be thankful for.

I do make one exception as far as salt.  I use it when I make my lasagna, because the sauce just tastes weird if it is undersalted.

I still used canned stuff and occasionally mixes, but I can tell if I get too much salt, my hands swell a little

Back from a lovelier than lovely Thanksgiving dinner.  I'm stuffed to the gills - it's always this way at these dinners and I don't quite understand it - I had two helpings of everything but not huge helpings but I feel like I just gained thirty pounds.

The company was wonderful and the only downside is that the house we were in has one occupant who is a smoker, and that is not good for someone who's trying to stave off illness.

Well, Thanksgiving dinner at the parents' house was nice.  Sonia, a friend and former co-worker of my mom's, and her niece (I think) came over.  Sonia's niece (I think) spoke a little Japanese and helped Ayumi.  She starts her English classes on Monday but I don't know how long she'll be here...a couple of weeks or so.  After dinner, we had Costco cheesecake and pumpkin pie for dessert.  Actually, the pumpkin pie was brought by Sonia, but no one opened it.  There was more than enough cheesecake.  I took some of it home with me and some other leftovers. :D

I'm at home now, watching Glee.

Wow!  Forty-nine years ago this day, do you remember where you were?

My parents hadn't even met yet. ::)

Forty-nine years ago I was at Hamilton High School - and I wrote about it extensively in Kritzer Time.
