Not onto the floor, I hope.

Starving, myself.  I'd probably eat something off the floor.  Time to go out and scare up some food.

I packed light for my flight so that I could take the bag in the cabin but I needn't have bothered because at the gate they said there was no more room for baggage so mine had to go in the hold.

Lots of Spanish children with their parents on board - why are they not in school? The child who was sitting next to me was about 8 and was playing with his ipad the whole journey. Of course, on flights nowadays evveryone plays with electronic gadgets including me.

I had lunch in the airport restaurant and on the plane had a bacon baguette -not because I needed it but I like eating on planes to pass the time. Arriving in Madrid I didn't need a big meal so I popped into Starbucks for a sandwich and coffee. I was hoping it would be warm here but it's extremely cold - although it is late at night.

You must be getting better airplane food than I am unless you took that on the plane with you.  Is a meal included with your flight?  We have to pay extra for food these days.

I had to pay extra for it. I had to wait 10 minutes for them to "cook" it. They asked if I didn't mind waiting. Well, I wasn't going anywhere  :)

No Jane, I meant that I paid for it on the plane. Sorry for not being clear.

AND THEY COOKED IT!?!?!?!?!

Oh, I see I missed the "cook" which is why I was so confused.  My fault-you did make it clear.

I'm packing for my flight to Madrid, Spain later today and where I'm sure the weather will be better than it is here. I usually fly British Airways but for a change I'm using a budget airline but paying a bit more for a better seat.

SAFE & EASY TRAVELS!

I wish I was going to warm Spain.  I've never been there.

Well I've never been to Spain,  but I kinda like the music

Gonna try and do my Monday casserole using this ham steak I have.  Probably a broccoli/ham thing.  That all requires a trip to the grocery, though.

mmmm ham casserole

with sourcream?

Off to take Mother to an appointment (hopefully her last one post-surgery) & then to visit with my grandparents.
It's a bummer to think about, but this will either be our last Thanksgiving with Grandpa, or our first without him. I feel blessed to have had him be such an integral part of my life & have been slowly coming to terms with his mortality since he was approved for hospice care a few months ago.

Casserole in the oven.  Rice, ham, broccoli, cheese and cheese soup with a crushed corned flake top (instead of bread crumbs).  We'll known soon...

Oh, and there's a little sour cream in there too!!

My Papa's  ham casserole recipe

Egg noodles, cook al dente, drain, toss with butter,

take quart of sour cream reserve a 1/8 cup - mix and egg into the quart, mix in with the egg noodles

stir in the mince ham, put the whole thing in a well buttered casserole dish

top with sour cream (like icing)  sprinkle with seasoned breadcrumbs and paprika  dot with butter

bake at 400 until brown and bubbly

serve with more sour cream on the side

you can always add broccoli or asparagus if you like but we like it plain

it si also wonderful fried up the next day with a couple of eggs

I have done just about everything I can do tonight, the rest I'll have to do in the morning.  I put the cookie sheets out so I won't forget to bake the cookies.
