Back from the DMV and giving the motor car a bath.  I arrived at the DMV at ten for my ten-fifteen appointment.  There was a line of about eighty people outside, said people having not made appointments.  I went in the front door, went right up to the check-in for appointments, was given my number, number was called twenty seconds later, got to the window at 10:05 and was out the door by 10:10.  Fastest DMV appointment EVER.

WOW!

Times do change, but great music doesn't.  People baffle me sometimes.

Hopefully the reservations will increase during the week.

Hello. I have been out of town for a few days. Watched the storm on tv. Amazing!

I only looked at photos, it must have been something to watch in action.

Hello from Panera Bread and their lovely Wi-Fi.  No power at home since 7:15 last night-- but no damage, either.   All is basically well.  Got to run...more tomorrow!

Good news about the lack of damage.  Thanks for letting us know you are without power.

My Hitchcock box is coming from the UK.   It was supposed to be here either the end of this week or start of next week...but it is now delayed until after mid-November.  No excuses were offered as to the delay.

It was already delayed for the same reasons the U.S. box was delayed, so this new delay is mysterious.

In honor of all the areas hit by Superstorm Sandy, the Pacific Northwet has put almost all of our counties under a Flood Warning.  (Actually it has to do with all the rain we are expecting today and tomorrow.)

:(

NO FLOODING VIBES!

Fortunately, I live in an area where it's impossible to be flooded.  However, pipes can burst...but that's a different story. ;)

Elmore, I remember the same idiots would go to the beach in Florida when the hurricanes would sweep by because the waves were perfect for surfing. Well, surfing and dying. Perhaps it is Darwinism in action.

They could have been different idiots....there are lots of them out there

Just in time for Halloween: "Curse of the Demon" from the library. With Dana Andrews and Peggy Cummings. I hope it's empty-headed fun. I could use it tonight.

TOD:

Favorite Sinatra song: OL' MAN RIVER (amazing how he holds that last note for so long)
Favorite Film performance: THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE

I was never specifically a fan of Sinatra's singing (I liked him, but not "fan"...but he did record Sondheim's "Good Thing Going" :)), but my favorite film performance of his is "The Manchurian Candidate" (although, I haven't seen many others).

I think I should add VON RYAN'S EXPRESS which I've always thoroughly enjoyed and in which I thought Sinatra did a great job.

Funny, but no one's mentioned "From Here to Eternity," which I enjoy but I guess I don't really think of it as a Frank Sinatra movie, even though he won his Oscar for it.

It was super hot here today. Something like 70F. I was wearing a t-shirt. When i went to pick up my niece at daycare they had her in pants, splash pants, a tshirt, a long sleeve sweatshirt, a jacket. And a wool hat???

I told her if she is too hot she needs to tell them. I have no idea why they would dress little kids like that when it is so hot out. But the kids are all 1-4. So they don't say anything.

Tonight would have been so perfect for Halloween. I think it will be warmish tomorrow. Just worried about the rain.

Fell asleep last night fairly quickly, lulled to sleep by the sound of the rain on the roof (pit-pitty-pat-pitty.) When I woke up, I found out that our office was open but I had already decided I was staying home.  Spent the day doing work at the laptop.  Took a walk around the outside of the house to check for any damage.  All I found was a small branch that had broken off the dogwood tree in the front yard and an empty egg carton embedded in one of the yew shrubs.

I am considering myself darned lucky and blessed today.

I got another phone message from the township this evening informing me that Trick Or Treating has been postponed until Saturday.  The odd thing was that the call went on to say that it is "unlawful" for anyone over the age of fourteen to go Trick Or Treating unless they are acting as a chaperone and that they are not allowed to ask for a piece of candy!  WTF?!?  I have not heard of any such law being passed here in Pennsauken or anywhere else for that matter!  I have half a mind to gather a bunch of senior citizens and go out on Saturday to dare them to arrest us!  "Unlawful"!  Ha!

I have THE UNKNOWN with Lon Chaney on TCM right now, but the score they've slapped onto it is so awful that I'm going to have to switch to something else.

Those pictures of Sea Side Heights, NJ, are heartbreaking.  And I can barely stand to look at the TV videos of Ocean City...

It's fun, based on "Casting the Runes" by M.R. James. Does your DVD include the British cut?
