Thanks for the updates Elmore!  I am glad you made it through unscathed. I hope everyone one made it through unscathed. I heard that parts of Long Island got hit with significant flooding.

Elmore, time for you to take up reporting. You're more succinct and informative than any report I've read so far.

It comes from the need to condense the text for  invoices and recoding notes.

As I learned when I directed THE CURIOUS SAVAGE last summer....Parcheesi is the Royal Game of India....and really has a very interesting heritage.

Indian Royalty played the game - originally called Crosses & Circles - with live members of their harems in brightly colored costumes on huge outdoor boards.....

In its American form, it reminds me a lot of SORRY.

I am sure that DR MBARNUM's photo from last night was an actual photo.....it was probably from someplace in New Jersey rather than Manhattan.

Godzilla knows that we New Yorkers aren't afraid of him.

I just spoke to our DR Ben; he and Anthony have supplies, a working phone, and running water. No electricity, sothey're relying on info from the radio and seem to be coping quite well, given the mess.

elmore, thanks for the report.  Everything was very confusing last night, and there were many more fake photos posted on Facebook than the one you posted here.  The confusion stemmed from reading horrifying reports to reading a post by a woman on a theater chat board from Hell's Kitchen who said she took a nice walk over to Times Square right in the midst of what was supposed to be the worst storm in history and reading that it was calm and still, not raining, and not very windy.  I'm glad you were safe uptown and I hope all our downtown friends are safe and have power restored soon.  And thankfully the storm did not last anywhere near the time they said it was going to last.  And that's a good thing.

Traffic update:
1. No subway service for 4-5 days
2. Buses running today after 5pm, full service tomorrow at No Charge,  they will be packed because they'll pick up the subway crowd
3. LaGuardia still closed for extensive damage
4. I don't know anything about JFK or Newark airports at this time

BK, you're welcome!

There were a lot of morons who went out into the weather yesterday:
  1.  some of the fools who were told to evacuate did not, and had to be rescued during the full brouhaha at the risk of emergency workers' lives last night
  2.  there were people out jogging and one woman was killed by a falling limb
  3.  there were asses out surfing and hanging out on the beach!

I have no idea when the postal service will resume, definitely not before tomorrow or Thursday.

Elmore, I remember the same idiots would go to the beach in Florida when the hurricanes would sweep by because the waves were perfect for surfing. Well, surfing and dying. Perhaps it is Darwinism in action.
