Exceptionally hot today so it's salad for the main meal.

We are having very mild and comfortable weather here in the hinterlands....mostly enjoyable after the EXTREME heat of August.

Well, I made my trek to the local hardware store where I'd purchased the paint earlier. They are out of stock and have absolutely no idea when they'll have the color again. So much for the concept of stock control. They deserve to fold and I've sent a blistering email about their idiocy with stock.

Now I have to schlep about the damned Upper West Side looking for paint. I am not happy at the moment.

It's amazing to me that all these people ordering Follies because of the Playbill review, had no idea it was out.  They read Playbill - the announcement of the release was on there twice - I don't get it.

As if this evening weren't great enough, I came home to a lot of Follies orders - I knew there had to be a reason for it and there is: A lovely review from Playbill's Steve Suskin (you'll find out why he hadn't reviewed it before this): http://www.playbill.com/news/article/169776-ON-THE-RECORD-Follies-Once-More-Original-Cast-Album-Gets-Refreshed

Because Bruce is an old Jew, and must read from a paper at Sterling's Upstairs at the Thing, he's to be forgiven for getting the title of his own song incorrect in tonight's notes. He meant to write "Born Too Late," not "Born to Win." "Born Too Late," of course, was written for the wonderful "What If?" revue and it was recorded by the legendary Guy Haines on Haines' second CD, "New Guy in Town." The song, by any title, was indeed a smash at Sterling's 25 ... as was the entire evening.

The mistake was worth it since he got you to post :)

Having lunch today with an old friend who we haven't seen each other in 18 years! He has temporarily moved down here.

Earlier this week a childhood friend who I probably haven't seen in 35+ years (!!) came into the store. It was a brief reunion and we will try to get together somehow. He lives in Tampa, but travels to my area on business.

Have fun!

It's a beautiful autumn day outside, and that made the walk quite pleasant.

The hardware store at 77th and Amsterdam had three color choices of paint for me,  and I think I will frequent them now instead of the one I susally do. I purchased four cans of cherry red, and the table is painted and drying. In 90 minutes I will go down to check on it.

DR Elmore, I think we can all agree that it is "incumbent upon you" to post photos of the table.  If you somehow failed to take a "before" picture, please let the paint dry, strip it off, and do so before repainting and taking the new picture.  Thanks in advance.

I don't know that I'm up to going to this event tonight - I'll only know a couple of people and I don't like to "network" - we'll see how I feel closer to seven.

I'm glad for the orders, bk, but I couldn't help but notice that, as Elmore has pointed out, there's very little music in the Playbill review. And I found some of his few comments on the orchestrations, as heard in the new mix v. the original, rather bizarre. But if it sells copies ...

Steve Suskin is an enjoyable writer about the theatre, but he's useless as a music critic,. A good review from him may sell CDs, but his stupid pans don't sell them, and he really put a nail in the Herbert songs coffin because of his being completely out of his depth as a critic. If he'd had reasonable quibbles, I could live with it but his dismissive review showed up his lack of credentials and his limited knowledge.

The table is set up with the tv and I am quite happy with it.  DR ChasSmith, you wil have to pay a visit to see it and you are always welcome.

Here, too, DR Elmore!  I drove to and from the grocery with the sunroof open.

Good Afternoon!

Auditionees 1-158 have done their monologues and/or songs, and they are now prepping for the Dance portion of the day. It was a good day. It did take a while for my hands to warm up this morning due to the over-A/C'd hotel ballroom, but my fingers and brain were in sync.
