TOD:

When I was a kid, I loved Masterpiece, a board game with paintings from the Art Institute of Chicago. Taught me a bit about the styles of painters and introduced me to a few that I still love.

Then Scrabble was a major time consumer. Enjoyed that plenty with some good scotch on the side.

My, you were a precocious child!
Still am.

T.O.D.

The first game I remember playing was Chutes and Ladders.

The first card game I remember was Authors, which was Go Fish! with novels.  It is still available at Amazon.

On a related note, when I was at the gym Tuesday there were two guys playing Checkers in the steam room.

And how did they jump each other?

Joe South, who performed "Games People Play," has died.

Here's k.d. lang singing my favorite of his songs:

Good flight: Exit row and the middle seat was empty too!

I did have a slight panic attack when I didn't see my bike bag at baggage claim. Thankfully, Delta had gone ahead and placed it in the area set aside for oversized bags and sports equipment. Whew!

And a good hotel room with a great view of Centennial Olympic Park!

-Today is a "personal" day for me. I'll move over to the convention hotel tomorrow. The views from most of the rooms there are either of the airport parking lot or the highway.

Oh!

My brother, Michael, just found out that he has been promoted to the rank of Commander (CDR) in the United States Coast Guard! And along with his promotion, he will now be stationed back at USCG HQ in DC on a more permanent basis. No more extended weekends away from his family. :)

Back from the Costco run and some lunch at the Daily Grill.  I had their under 600 calorie turkey club with avocado sandwich, which was incredibly great - how it can be under 600 calories and have avocado is anyone's guess, but it was filling and really tasty.

I am sort of shocked that nobody around here had this game:

Interesting piece but it was before my time. ...

I couldn't get tickets for the Olympics but I was able to get to the Olympic Stadium today to see the Paralympics. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a wonderful experience to be there.....and I'm not even interested in sport!

I think it is cool that you were able to go. It is an interesting stadium. I have seen a little of the paralympics on the Canadian and BBC feeds. Nearly nothing about them in the games in the
US media.

bk - Avocados aren't that caloric. They have a reputation for being "fatty", however, it's a good fat. -And a little avocado - about a 1/4 of one - is all one needs on a sandwich.

And...

It turns out that the mini-tour of THE KING & I is here in Atlanta. I know the Tuptim and the Eliza, and the director: Baayork Lee. Hopefully, I'll be able to see all of them.

It is the *new* artificial avocado.  It is made from recycled Velveta slices.

I am really enjoying the new GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES recording! It's quite fantastic.

I've ordered it, but haven't gotten it yet.

My school is driving me crazy. It canceled my registration for the fall semester for no reason and no one is available to try to help straighten it out.

School problems are getting worse. Not better. Am thinking of dropping out of the program.
