I still haven't packed and we leave tomorrow.  I still don't know all the times we are meeting up with family.  If I did I would know about asking DR Jeanne if she is free to finally meet in person, and of course ask Bruce if he is free at all.

Bruce, we will be staying at the Hilton Woodland Hills.  Being in the Valley we will try to figure this out, if you are free.  Maybe sometime on Friday.  Are you free anytime then?  I know you have a very busy schedule.  There is also the possibility of coffee on Saturday morning.

Does that call for a hootenanny? I do not know haboobs from half-wits.

It was on this date in 1990 that we hit the all-time high of 122F.

Does anybody here watch CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM?

We finished watching the 8th season last night on DVD, and I became aware of something disturbing that is, in fact, present in all seasons of the series.

During the end credits of every show, names of the producers, writers, director, and 3-4 regular cast members have their own cards and are easy to read.  But, beyond that, the names of the other actors go by SO FAST that it is impossible to read them.

In several instances, I wanted to see who played a certain role, but I can't read that fast.

How much would it cost the producers to extend those cards another 2-3 seconds in length?

I just wonder why SAG nor anybody else has never objected to this rude practice.

You can always "Pause" the DVD.

I've done that, but with their card only being 3-5 frames (?), you have to be very fast with the pause button.

But, you're missing the point.

These actors deserve enough time so their names can be seen in the credits.

Sad about Nora Ephron.

I used to visit every week with her father, Henry, when he was at the Motion Picture Home.

All readers can hold hundreds to even over a thousand books. It depends on how much memory your reader has and the size of the books. Some readers have expandable memory. My Sony has slots for two memory cards (each one has a limit of 8 gigs) so I can have a total of 17 gigs of memory which includes the 1 gig that is on the reader. The downside to the memory cards is it takes more time for the books to load. My reader remembers the page I stopped at on multiple books. I can be reading 4 or 5 books and be in a different place in all of them and when I open the individual book the reader knows where I stopped.

The Kindle's memory is not expandable.  That's the biggest downside...it's only got 3GB memory.  Something like an iPad can also have much, much, MUCH more memory than the Kindle, so with the Kindle app, what you can get is practically unlimited.

But can't you just delete items from your actual kindle, yet you still own them in your amazon account. So if you need to put them back on your kindle you can.

I haven't had to do this because there is so much room on mine.

they were saying you  could have multiple books open to read, for those who don't stick with the same book until it is finished.

Now I get it. ;)

Can't you open and potentially start all your ebooks and your kindle will save its place?

I wish I knew. I saw the show in the movie theater and bought the DVD, but I honestly can't tell you where the money went based on what I saw.

Quite impressive cloud to the east of us. I don't think it will reach me, though.
