I've been having a fun correspondence with Teller's partner (not Penn - his life partner).  He wrote me on Facebook to tell me that Teller had given him the CD and Blu of Nudie Musical and wrote to tell me how much they both loved the movie.  He's also gotten There's Mel and loves, that, too.  He wrote me today that they'd both just watched all six episodes of Outside the Box and laughed their asses off.  So nice to hear.  I told him that if I could figure out how to do one of these for Teller that I would.  Wouldn't that be fun?

Back from my knitting class at Lambikin's in Hamilton, OH.  I'm taking a 3-session beginner class, not because I'm a beginner, but because I needed the refresher and thought I had some bad habits I needed to break.  Turns out I'm doing fine and will end the 3 weeks with a beautiful scarf made of self-striping yarn.  On Feb. 7, I'll start the 3-week class to make a reader's shawl.

:)  I hope there will be a photo of the scarf.

Well, it's only about 4" long so far, so it'll be a while!

In the mail today was a nice note from Susan's mother, in response to the one we sent.  I feel so bad for her.

A friend of mine, and a fellow actor (He played the dentist in ANNE FRANK with me), has a new YA book available at Amazon's Kindle store.  It is entitled LOST AND FOUND.

This recording project is cursed. Another new wrinkle has occurred late this afternoon. And it's a big one.

Vibes for a speedy and satisfactory conclusion.

I just received a text from a friend in So. California who heard we are going to have a blizzard & will we be ok.  I haven't heard about any blizzard-2 inches of rain & some wind maybe.

I hope she doesn't know something we don't know.  Either way it looks like I won't be driving my car on the road & will miss my hiking group outing.  I wish one of the hikers lived near me & could pick me up at the bottom of our road where the main road is fine.

Thanks for the vibes, everyone!

I'm ready to get out of the recording business. I'm going into something useful: munitions, serial killing, euthanasia, something I can commit myself to in ridding the world of problems.

As for The Gershins' Porgy & Bess...

Well...

I'm really not sure just how I feel about what I saw on stage at the Richard Rodgers earlier tonight.

Part of me is majorly conflicted.

And another part of me is actually offended.

A few of the "highlights" for me:
-A brand new Overture. -Not a Prologue, but an old-fashioned Broadway Overture. -Didn't Diane Paulus want to make this production more realistic?
-"Summertime" is now a duet. -That's when I started not to care - and that was only five minutes into the show.
-There's now a dance break in the middle of "It Ain't Necessarily So".
-The music that underscores the big dramatic - and originally traumatic and tragic - moment of the second act has been jerry-rigged to make it more of a happy, triumphant one. -Prompting the audience to cheer in approval.
-There's way too much accordion in the orchestration.

However...

I will say that Audra McDonald more than likely locked up her next Tony as soon as she opened her mouth to start singing "I Loves You Porgy".
