I watched the second of the two Doc Martin movies the other night, DOC MARTIN AND THE LEGEND OF THE CLOUTIE. It was in the same vein as the other movie and quite fun, I thought.

I also watched Stephen Poliakoff's GLORIOUS 39. Rather dark, but I always find his work interesting.

It truly does feel like Fall here in the DC area today. Alas, my fall jacket/coat is in storage in NYC. At least I have a hoodie.  ("Hoodie" sounds much more hipper than "hooded sweatshirt".)

Today I went with my neighbor to the west side of town to see the butterfly garden we planted last spring. Every plant was dead. Very sad. Then we went on the east side of town to the best-kept gardener's secret in town -- and I got two beautiful passion vines. Then I took Feathers and Shades back to adoptions. That about broke my heart. Happily, Meezy has been adopted.

I haven't had a passion vine in years!

Good news about the BLue Raes.

I am off to the 6th performance of Don't Drink the Water.

Good for Meezy.....adoption to good homes vibes for Feathers and Shades.

Continued broken legs DR Jrand.

A couple weeks ago I spotted a charge on my Discover bill that wasn't mine. I'd gone to the gas station and filled my tank. The charge for $54.69 was on the bill and correct. It was immediately followed, however, by a charge for $70. As I only have one car, the car has only one gas tank, and I hadn't lent my card to anyone, I knew that the $70 wasn't mine. I phoned and reported it, and was credited. A couple days ago I received a letter from Discover saying that they'd investigated the matter, the charge "appeared valid", and that they were reversing the credit. WHAT??!! This is the company that advertises "$0 fraud liability protection".  I told them that the charge wasn't mine, the signature looks nothing like mine, and -- get this -- I'd reported the card missing. They never caught it!!

I phoned again today and I THINK it's been taken care of now. We shall see. I always though that "$0 fraud liability protection" meant that you're completely covered. Maybe they really mean zero protection!
I think I must have dropped the card without realizing it. The $70 charge was at the same gas station, two hours later. I know it'll be resolved in my favor, but one has to wonder at the way some companies do business.

Topic of the Day:

On my Kindle:  The Benjamin Kritzer trilogy (I just finished chapter 5 of "Benjamin Kritzer" at lunch) :D

In my CD player at work:  the original Los Angeles cast recording of Play It Cool, then Songs from Grease with John Barrowman

I did the movie songs on the Barrowman recording.

Seriously?

Fantastic news, DR Elmore!  Will you be going to Hilton Head?

Yep! Do you and Father Richard want to take a trip?

Can you email me the specifics?

I don't know much yet. Performances are Nov 10-13, Thursday, Friday, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday. I'll be headng back to NYC on Nov 14. I want Randy and Jo to drive down.

What about the Macbeths?

I'm dying to see them anywhere I'm not.

DR Jeanne - Is it possible that that charge was the amount they "secure" when you pay-at-the-pump? I know that Shell will "secure" $55 any time a credit/debit card is used. Much like when you check into a hotel.

First off, thanks to all for excellent vibes and xylophones - they worked.

Second off, I'm back from a very late lunch at Hugo's - had a small Caesar and mac and cheese - was just in the mood for the latter.
