JRand, I think the changes you are thinking of making are excellent. After all, audiences today need to have something new in the shows -- to keep them coming back.

Good Evening!

We went to the Birch Aquarium.
Then we went to the San Diego Maritime Museum.
Then we went to the U.S.S. Midway.

And now I need a nap. ;)

And now, instead of taking a nap, I'm going to pack up my bag since it looks like we'll be heading out to dinner before they drop me off at the airport.

Tomorrow is the three-month-to-the-date anniversary on the job and I think I'll find out if my contract will be extended or not. Am not looking forward to that meeting.

We're staying at my brother's old condo. He and Kristy just moved into their new house, but his lease goes through the end of August. So, we all stayed here.

From Theatermania.com:

Jason Graae -- Perfect Hermany (Kritzerland)
Graae's sunny vocals beautifully match Jerry Herman's optimistic tunes on this upbeat recording of a one-man show he offered at the Colony Theatre in Burbank last May. The recording features some of the songwriter's most familiar songs, such as "Before the Parade Passes By" (from Hello, Dolly!) and "I Am What I Am" (from La Cage), along with lesser known ones, including the sumptuously melodic "Marianne" (from the infrequently seen The Grand Tour). While Graae's patter might sometimes be a bit precious, it's little matter once he ably launches into the music which he so clearly adores.

Back from a wonderful day of shooting, then a Jew meal, then coconut cake (I only ate a third of a piece).  The day could not have gone better - I kept the atmosphere light and fun as I always do, and the cast was just fantastic and so easy.  We began with Nikka Graff Lanzarone, who did her bit quickly and effortlessly.  The cameraman was great, as was our sound guy and everything just went so smoothly and quickly.  I so wish I could tell you exactly what we're doing, but there are too many little prying thieving eyes out there - sorry, prying, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery eyes, and I want to get this on the web before anyone actually starts trying to do it - whether they will or not is anyone's guess, but having been bitten by this sort of thing in the past, I'm just keeping my mouth shut.  When we're close to airing episode one then I'll spill the beans.  At the end of Nikka's thing, Brad Oscar arrived and did his part of Nikka's thing (just the end).  Then we did Brad's solo thing, then we did a big ensemble and Brad thing that was absolutely stellar and hilarious - Brad is just fantastic and Adam Cates' choreography was wonderful.  I think it will cut together easily.  Then we moved onto the second episode, right on time.  The three bits in that episode involved Sandy Rosenberg and Barry Pearl, both wonderful, and their bit went very quickly.  Then Beth Leavel got there and we did her solo bit, then her bit with Barry and Sandy.  We wrapped almost an hour early and let me tell you, I shot a LOT of coverage.

Well...this may not be new news, but John Doyle is up to his old tricks.

Although, I think that this might actually work quite well. :)

Right now, the plan is to debut in late October or early November.  It really depends on the editor and how fast I can get the LA stuff done.  I can start airing once three episodes (of six) are complete and finished.

I have to say Beth Leavel is unbelievably great - she just stepped in, did her stuff and was four-star hilarious.  The only thing I had to say to her was action and cut.  She has amazing comic instincts and when someone has those you just shut up and watch and let them do what they do - and, for me, there's nothing better that I like as a director.

Beth Leavel is great. Makes me want to see the season even more. Glad the filming is going well.
